Okay, I've never flown Southwest and I've booked from SEA to MCO for our vacation. I've seen a couple comments on here that you should book your tickets one way instead of round trip. I booked mine round trip before fully reading this board. Does this mean if a cheaper fair comes out I can't rebook just one leg of our trip but have to rebook both? I'm okay with the current price but I am really hoping I can get an earlier flight time on the way there. The current cost for the better time is too high. Will I be stuck because I booked round trip?

Yes, if a lower price comes out for one leg of your trip, you'd have to cancel your RT and re-book 2 OWs. If you just recently booked your flight and the same price is still available, why not change it to 2 OWs, since there's no charge or penalty? You can do it online, and if you're having any trouble, just call SW and a rep will happily "walk" you through it. :thumbsup2

Also, do you have Ding installed so as to get those SW cheapos? If not, a SW rep can help there, too.:goodvibes

Good luck and happy travels!:)

Thanks for the info. I called SW and I guess my fares are already considered one way because they were internet specials. The SW rep kept saying she couldn't help me because they were internet specials. I was just asking a question.... I hope I don't have any problems in the future. Yes, I've got my DING installed. I've had it for years and have never flown SW. Hope this works out well. :goodvibes

If the price for your current flights is still the same as when you booked it, I'd cancel your current flights and re-book as two one-ways. You'll then have 2 confirmation numbers and you can rebook each one individually if/when a lower price or better time at the same price becomes available.

No you do not need to book one ways. Southwest has made it very easy to rebook/reprice a flight....even just one leg of your trip. You will not need to cancel both to get a cheaper price. Go to their website and check it out!!

next time that you get someone who is not willing to help you just hang up and call again. I have only had 2 unpleasant experiences with their CS out of many calls made to them.

This is true unless it's a DING special that is only good for one-way of your trip. If you have a round-trip ticket in this case, you're stuck and can't take advantage of the lower DING. I believe you should always book one-way tickets with Southwest.

For what it's worth, I've been a frequent SW flyer for 6 years now. I always just book R/T and it hasn't been a problem once. Yes, there are rare occasions when you are better off booking two O/W's - and it isn't much more work to do so. But if you happen to book R/T, don't stress over it. It's very unlikely to cause you trouble down the road.
