Wondering if anyone on this board has heard of a shuttle from Sanford to Disney Resorts? Was thinking of a very last minute (Sunday) trip while friends are at Disney, but the only affordable airfare is on Allegiant.

Do not drive, so cannot rent a car and car service looks to be about $240 rd trp  on the average.

Thanks much!

I had the same problem yesteray, found $9.99 flights but to Sanford but with no DME had to add rental car. Mears offers a town car and taxi service. Cabs would run about $100+ each way, town car service was $150 round trip (we are staying at All Stars), but I'm not sure if that was at Mears, my DH found it somewhere.

ETA: edited to remove rental car info, sorry didn't see the you don't drive part.

Hope this helps and book those flights FAST before they go up. I found mine about 11 am yesterday booked by 1 and by 5pm they were gone and went back up. My boss was gonna take a quick trip too and she had to pay $20/more per ticket each way (which was still a good deal at $29.99, but not as good as mine).

Thanks!

Haven't booked the flights yet because no idea what to do about transportation - that will be the deal breaker for this trip. ************ wants $320 rd trp!!! So difficult to find a reputable company - wish I could find even one review by a long time Dis'er.

Did you book a car service?

Thanks again!

There are companies in Sanford that charge you approximately $180.00 round trip from Sanford Airport to WDW. The Orlando companies have raised their fares or stopped service from Sanford because of a change in regulations. There are no shuttle companies that run from Sanford.

Check the airport web site for companies that operate out of the Sanford airport. You will usually find better prices to WDW from those cpmpanies.

Well depending where you are flying out of you just might be in luck. As of Feb 8 2010 certain cities that Alliegent flys out of will stop flying into Sanford and start flying into Orlando Int'l.

Thanks, Shelly. That's true for just 10 Allegiant cities - my city will still be flying into Sanford. :(

I decided not to make the trip - travel was far too costly.

Thanks everyone!

Don't use the company actually named Sanford Transportation. They have given some folks some bad experiences as was reported here not too long ago.

Even though(xxxxxx edited if) they subbed out just one ride to one bad driver, they need to redeem themselves and much more before they get good words here.

Those $9.99 flights might not be that great a bargain when you figure in ground transportation from the airport to where you are going.

Also, don't forget to add on all of the fees Allegiant charges for booking online, etc. I finally just booked on Southwest with a $69 Ding! alert the other day because by time I added on the fees and the rental car I was going to be spending more than if I just drive to RDU and fly out from there.

I like Allegiant Airlines and would fly them again, but some times the times they fly just aren't convenient and prices aren't always better when adding on the other costs. This actually will be the second time they lost out to Southwest because of those reasons.

Very true...I usually do the same. This was a very last minute trip (48 hours), the total on Allegiant was just $88 inc every possible add on...but...the transportation from Sanford to WDW at least $180 before tip...so decided to wait..but it was fun planning while it lasted!

Sanford Transportation and STS Sanford Transportation are are one and the same. They didn't get their bad reputation by subbing out to one driver. They have left several families in the lurch, by not showing up to return the passengers to Sanford, at Port Canaveral and WDW.

We use Sanford/Allegient religiously and have settled with Happy Limo as our transportation choice because of our luggage and it's FUN. Get on Sanford's website and it will tell you the transportation options offered. If you need to keep costs down, hire a towncar but keep your luggage to a minimum because it will have to fit in the trunk or back seat with you. Make sure you get a cell phone direct number of whomever you use...no toll free one. We always call the day before we need them to make sure everything is on track for pick up at the resort.

Thanks - that was the very first thing I did! Reality is that it is just costly transportation wise to fly into Sanford.:thumbsup2

You will pay the same for the SUV's as you do the town cars and get more leg room, luggage room and passenger count. So don't think because a town car is the smallest it is the cheapest. That is not true. The relatively higher costs come with the company you select.
