I have been looking into hotels for the second half of our trip. I usually use priceline but sind my hubby only wants to stay "ON THE BEACH" priceline is not going to work.

I looked into Coranado and It's to expensive. Unless I did use priceline. It looks as if people get the marriott in coronado for around $100 a night which I could swing. But honestly the hotel pics I have seen don't look to beach like. There is a beach with calm waters over looking the san diego skyline. And we were looking for more of a beach with waves experience.

So I found up in La Jolla that they have a "childrens beach" that looks very nice. here is the web address http://www.a-zsandiegobeaches.com/lajolla-photos.htm
I was trying to figure out which hotels were in the back ground of those pics with out any luck.

Hotwire list a hotel on the beach - costal area for $87 a night and from my reasearch it looks like hilton sandiego resort but you can never tell untill after you purchase.

What I want is a hotel on the beach for a decent price!

any ideas?
thanks
Jen

>>What I want is a hotel on the beach for a decent price!<< I think thats an oxymoron... The cheapest Ive usually gotten hotels in San Diego is 60-70 a night for the Super 8 (both are rather nice) We usually stay near Old Town and Hotel Circle which is about 10 min away from the water.

are the cheapest Ive found- none are "right" on the shore from what we can remember houses take up most of the beach front property-

I did a lot of research for our August trip and finally decided on Pacific Terrace hotel. www.pacificterrace.com

I was surprised to find out that there are not really that many San Diego hotels actually ON the beach. Private homes and the airport and Air Force base take up most of the waterfront. Also, a lot of the beach hotels are actually on the bay and we really wanted to be on a Pacific Ocean beach. All of those factors along with very good reviews led me to the Pacific Terrace. But, it was pretty pricey.
