Another room charge question

We did a split stay between AKL and POFQ in Nov. I just received a bill for $400 for room charges. The bill does have actual charges we made. I will be calling Disney on Monday. Very strange. We have been to WDW many times and have never had this happen.
We did go to the checkout desk and make sure everything was fine. I wonder why they didn't actually charge my card before I left?

I'm understanding the charges were correct. They generally charge your card the day you leave. However, computers sometimes have glitches. The charge probably didn't go through. I work with this stuff all the time for my company. With security so tight, if we have an issue with a customers charge, we have to rely on our bank to put the charge through for processing. (No one has access to full credit card numbers any more for the protection of the cardholder.) Banks move at their own speed (generally slow, slower and so slow you want to poke your eyes out *LOL*).

So was your CC charged at checkout and you are being billed again? Or did you not notice that the $400 wasn't on your card? A fairly big charge to miss?!?!

I know I am a little obsessive but I check my accounts several times a week and certainly by now would know if that charge had not gone through back in November.

I work in the back office on graveyard at the Contemporary. If you don't have express checkout turned on it won't be charged automatically; you could have asked to have it turned off, or a cast member could have turned it off if he thought there was a chance something might be wrong on the charges (often, for example, if there are multiple people charging to different folios) and you would want to see the final bill before paying, or the charge could have failed while the express checkout batch was running (happens a couple times a night to a handful of reservations, just a side effect of putting thousands of charges through at the same time). In any case, the cast member you checked out with should have taken payment once you approved that everything was right, but they could have just forgotten for some reason or our property management system could have been going through a period when charging wasn't working which happens for brief periods most mornings. Every couple hours as the day goes on checked out reservations are checked to see if they have a balance and payment is manually taken (mostly because people can still charge to the room until midnight after they check out, but also for situations when payment wasn't taken in the morning for one of the reasons above.) Or, as has been mentioned, it could be some hitch with the system between the hotel and the bank. As long as all the charges are ones you actually made and you were not double charged I wouldn't worry about it. There is a number on the bottom of your folio you can call to talk to research and billing if there are any mistakes or you have any questions about the folio.

Yes, I have gotten a bill in the mail from Disney a couple of times. I forget now what caused it for the charges not to work but they were valid. I called and paid them on the card that I had originally left for them to use, no problems.

Thanks for your responses - I did notice that the charge had been missed which made me wonder what could have happened.
The problem has been solved. My credit card on file had expired so they couldn't charge anything to the account. One quick phone call and everything is now good.
