Another Rookie Mom Mistake

I was under the impression that the baby was not actually dropped...did he actually fall? If not, what is the big deal?

The baby could have suddenly flung backwards, like my kids all did around that age. It's like a game that my kids liked to play. Bounce, bounce, bounce, fling...either forward or backward.

From what I understand, unless I'm missing something, she slipped and the baby almost fell out of her arms. She had a drink in one hand, the baby in the other. People are up in arms because she almost dropped the baby and not the drink. As if she held onto the drink tighter than the baby.

The only thing I have read regarding this incident is :

Britney Spears had another terrifying baby experience when Sean Preston almost fell backwards out of her arms! By the way, she was holding a cocktail glass full of clear liquid...but DreX is giving her the benefit of the doubt that it was water.

It doesn't say what happened before hand. Is there something I missed?

Ah, but then why do you care enough to post even that response? The ones who really don't care just read the thread and moved on, and the ones who really, really don't care didn't even read it at all.

Or it could be that some of us clicked on the thread because they didn't know what it was about and then got sucked into the argument...

Yay, I win $5. I made a bet with my sister that within 5 minutes of posting this I would get:

1)at least one response that it isn't Britney's fault because the paparazzi are stalking her

2)at least one response suggesting that no one is perfect (with our without sarcastic smiley)

3)at least one response suggesting that all parents would look similarly bad if photographed at the wrong time.

Sorry, but my sympathy for Britney has long since vanished. Plenty of celebrities manage to raise children without one safety crisis after another. If she doesn't want the paparazzi to photograph her with her kid, leave the kid at home. That baby isn't asking to please go outside for a stroll.

All I can say is I'm glad I don't have paparazzi following me around taking pictures of me every time I stumble or make a parenting mistake.

I feel so ... used!

Anyway, better give the $5 back! I never said it was the paparazzi's fault that she stumbled. I just said I was glad they weren't following me around to document my mistakes.

And just as an experiment (though not a sociological one) try carrying something heavy and squirmy in one arm and something light in the other and see which way you lean when you stumble.

What is fascinating in my many falls--how one can manage to avoid dropping a drink. No idea why that is so---but if one is falling, for some reason the reflex is to avoid spilling one drop of liquid.

Post a thread on that. See where your experiment takes you.

My sister was running with a double decker ice cream cone and slipped on some gravel. She fell to the ground, but the 2 scoops of ice cream flew out of the cone, and then dropped right back into the cone without losing a drop just as she hit the ground. Now THAT'S talent.

I also a woman at a bar once carrying 2 beers who slipped and fell to the ground, never spilling a drop of beer. It was quite amazing.
