I was just wondering:

Why is Rev. Wright called a racist? Is he? Has he ever said anything racist?

I know he said "God damn America" but in the context of the entire sermon, he meant that God condemns unjust governments, including the American govt.

Ok there's a quote using a racial epithet, a quote abour rich, white people, a quote saying US Gov't invented AIDS to commit genocide against black people and an anti-semitic quote. I guess anti-semitism isn't racism, though is it?

In your opinion. I see much racism in them. And bigotry. In today's Kansas City Star, McCain and Palin where accused of being racist on the op-ed page for using the term "socialist", which is a code word for "black", purportedly. I always thought socialist was a code word for "a more equitable distribution of property and wealth not based on effort, merit or reward."

Why? If it's ok to say socialists are voting for Obama, why is it not ok to say racists will vote for McCain?

I think there are many people on the board asking loaded questions or playing devils advocate. Racism is much more than one or two quotes on the internet. If the OP is looking for quotes, I'm sure they can google and research for themselves instead of asking random people on a discussion board.

As for the question, I have read enough on the Trinity church website, watched clips of his sermons and know of the people he associates with to feel that he is racist. If you take his words (written or spoken) and whenever he says "black" you insert "white", most people would think of it as racist and certainly not PC. If a person is not concerned of race or racism, why not speak for all people instead of using the words "white woman" or "black empowerment" etc.
