Ok, I guess it's my turn to ask everyone for some good thoughts. After being out of work for a year I had my first interview this morning and they are having me come in tomorrow for a second interview (the one today was on the phone). I have been staying home with my toddler, but I'm really ready to go back to work, and this seems like a great job. There really aren't a lot of jobs in marketing these days, and even fewer that are really a good fit, so any extra pixie dust would be appreciated!

Fingers crossed. Pixie dust bombers scrambled and given your location.

Lots of Pixie Dust pixiedust:and good thoughts coming your way. Please let us know how it comes out.

Hope all goes well! Sending PD your way!

Good thoughts, best wishes and lots of pixiedust: coming your way !!!

Thanks everyone. I think it went well - a couple of questions I wish I would have answered a little better, but nothing terrible. They're looking to have someone in ASAP but they're closed until Wednesday so now I just have to wait (and do my thank you notes). If I applied online, they set up my interviews online and it's a tech company, would you do an email thank you note? I want to make sure it's seen before they make a decision, which is the other reason i think email is a good choice in this case, but I'd like other opinions.

Yep, I'd email.
They MAY get your snail mail thank you note by Tuesday, but what if they don't? Or if they don't read it before they make a decision.

Email is fine since they're going to make a quick decision.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Well, I never heard anything back on that job - not even a form letter saying thanks but no thanks :confused3 since it's been a month, I'm sure they've filled the position. In the meantime I lost a good friend to breast cancer and dh has been up for a couple of promotions that he wants and would mean trip to Atlantis for the two of us in November, so we've had a lot going on. Anyway, at the end of last week I decided it was time to buckle back down and get some more applications in. I found a few promising postings. Today I got an email back from my first choice. It's a company that is always at the top of the best companies in the country to work for :thumbsup2. The position is a 5 month temp position, but we have benefits thru dhs work, ive done contract/temp work before, and I'm thinking a temp job at a great company is an opportunity to get full time employment there later on. Right now they just want writing samples (writing is a big part of the position) but it's a positive step! Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Of course if I get it that might mean canceling our beach club stay in January :scared1: but it would be worth it!

It sounds like you are doing all the right things. I hope you get a position you really want. Do you have daycare all lined up. I would start looking, if you don't already. Good luck!!!

fingers crossed, :goodvibes and pixiedust: headed your way! Good luck!
Getting your foot in the doors is a great was to start and maybe get a position later. I started my job as a student worker and moved into a regular position - I have been there 11 years now and my DH started at his work as an intern and has been there 13 years.

Thanks! I had ds singed up and he was two weeks away from starting daycare when I got laid off last year, so I've visited all the places near us and have my top two. Both have signs up out front right now advertising first month free, so I'm hopeful one or both has openings if we need it. Also, the place that I'm hoping for has on site daycare. It's free for employees but not sure if a temp would be able to use it. I would even pay since it would be so convenient, so that's a possible third option. I should probably tour my top two again, but I feel like I might jinx it :rotfl:
