We will be leaving for WDW and Pop Century this Friday. We visited WDW and PC last year at the exactly same time. Of course, we bought two refillable mugs which were not the YOAMD or whatever they are called. :) They were bright colored PC mugs. Anyway, would I be able to use these mugs this year or be brought to the refillable mug jailhouse? :rotfl2: Just wanted some opinions whether or not I should pack them and feel guilty about using them or buy two new ones. Thanks Everyone for your input. I can't wait for Friday. WDW here we come. Lynn

Mugs are good for the length of stay at the resort you purchased them at. Under the rules you need to buy new mugs.

According to the "official rules" you are supposed to buy a new one. What you choose to do is up to you.

This is one of those million dollar questions... I have read so much on this subject. I don't always buy new mugs, sometimes I bring the ones from the previous year. We always stay at the CBR so there at least from the same resort. I have yet to been stopped by anyone, nor have I seen any CM stop anyone from using their old mugs. Last year I saw a family with WL mugs at the CBR from years ago, at least Iam not that bad! :lmao: This year, I will buy new ones, I don't have the YOMD mugs. I think they really don't press the issue, even though the "rules" stat otherwise. You could try it, and if someone says something, then buy new ones.

No one will stop you from using your mugs from a previous trip,in spite of the posted rules. In fact, even if you use a non-Disney mug,you will not be stopped from using it. It is up to you to decide for yourself what you will do,NOT the mug police.

We like to buy the mugs as they make great souvenirs anyway - they pretty much pay for themselves even on the shortest stay... although next time we're doing Platinum plan so the mugs are included anyway.

why not just buy new ones? they are cute and only $13 each.

The resorts have switched over to new generic mugs .
It has been noted that CMs are now approaching guests with old mugs.

Hi, all. My family of four drove from NJ to WDW. We spent our first night, (6/23) at All Star Music - the Jazz Building. We've never been in a value resort before, and were pleasantly surprised. The room was perfectly adequate for my family. I was expecting a shoe-box with a bed. It really wasn't bad at all. The pool was fun - but crowded. The food court was pretty good, but also kind of crowded. My kids enjoyed the large icons and the other children. They showed Pirates of the Caribbean at night, and that was fun! It really was a pleasant surprise for us.

We checked into the Wilderness Lodge on Sunday, 6/24. We got there around 8:30 a.m. - and SURPRISE - our room was ready. We were given room 6157 - inner courtyard room with bunkbeds and a fabulous view of the pool (and bay lake). We were loving it. Our last trip we had room 6145. We were able to view the fireworks from our balcony. The pool was never overly crowded, and there was always a chair available poolside. The kiddie pool was good for my four-year old - however; he liked the adult pool with the life jacket. Roaring Forks was decent, but always crowded.

They did switch over to the new mug design, and I did see the cashiers approach people using the old design.

I wasn't too fond of the food choices (or lack of). And, my 9-year old son can eat more than 4 little chicken tenders since he is almost five feet tall! So, they should re-evaluate the kids menu.

Whispering Canyon was a fun time! We ate there twice for breakfast and once for dinner. The food was really good, and we had a blast. There was always a boat within 10 minutes of us arriving on the dock. We always managed to miss the bus we needed, but never waited more than 15 minutes for the next one. The biggest problem was trying to leave Epcot at night and having to wait for three busses before we could board.

Funny enough, every time I walked through the halls at the Lodge, I always felt like I was the only one there!

Oh, and I received five towel animals during my stay!

Any ?'s, please ask.

Leave the old ones at home and pick up some new ones. I'm a firm believer that one can never have too many mugs. :) Not to mention that mug police or no mug police the verbage of the signs on the drink machines says that the mugs are good for the length of stay at the resort it was purchased.

We have the YOMD Mugs but they say 2007. I plan on packing them. If the mugs are very different, I will buy new, if not, I will use the old. I hate to sound cheap, but the money will just get spent on souveniers instead!!!:confused3

I'm leaving my old mugs at home and bringing the new ones back to keep them company!:dance3:

Key words bolded and underlined. Sorry, no. Buy new ones.

It's unlikely anyone will stop you or say anything to you. You are on your honor. It is printed right on your mugs that they are good only during the length of the stay during which you bought them.

So now you know the rule. What you do with that information is up to you. To me, if I buy something for a certain time period only, I do not feel I am entitled to continue to take that thing during another time period. Whether or not I can get away with it and whether or not the front-line employees care about it are immaterial to me.

I want my kids to learn to do the right thing ... not learn to do whatever they are sure they can get away with. And they learn by example.

Okay, okay, everyone, I will purchase new ones for this trip. We will add to our collection of mugs that we already have in our cabinet. If I see anyone with an old mug I will make sure to draw the attention of a castmember so they can be turned in to the refillable mug polic. :) :) :) Thanks for setting me straight! It never hurts to ask a question. Looking forward to Friday and getting the heck out of this cold winter weather. Lynn

Uh oh, better watch out for the mug police! popcorn::

We have YOMD mugs from last year. They are going with us in April. I plan on using them. I hardly think Disney is going to go broke over it. Besides, they took the appetizer and tip away from my meal plan, I think they can afford a cup of morning coffee that costs them maybe 1/2 cent. :lmao:

There are rules concerning mug use. If anyone has a problem with the DDE and DDP they need to contact WDW not make your own rules.
