Once the duel had officially started, Olivia nodded thankfully in Professor McGinnis’ direction before returning her attention to the opponent in front of her. She knew that she couldn’t afford to let the girl steal first blood so, before another precious second was wasted, she aimed her wand and shouted “Flipendo!”

It was impossible for words to explain how good it felt to actually be able to do that without having any older students around to yell at her about it. Sure, there were several on the surrounding platforms, but they were all to busy with their own matters to notice, or even care for that matter; and anyway, what would be the point of having a dueling chamber if one weren’t aloud to…well…duel?

Then, the most desperate idea popped into her head. Sure, it was risky, but if she ever wanted to see her journal back then she’d have to be willing to take at least a couple of risks to get it. “Hey, how about we make this a bit more interesting?” Olivia asked, “If I win, you have to give me my journal back and swear not to tell anyone what you read in it; and if you win…then…” at this she turned her head towards the chamber entrance and watched as several students passed by, chattering happily with one another as they did so. “then…you get to keep it and…I’ll…do what ever you want for a month.”

Ok, so gambling her free-will away might not have of been the smartest thing to do, but as long as she won everything would turn out fine, right? Melin, she hoped so.
