Another question on CP and Dinner Pkg!

We're going the week of Dec 11 (btw I am SO excited ... haven't been there for Christmas since since well since there was no such thing as a CP!) and I could use some advice on our best bet for the CP. Points and counterpoints ~ we really want to see this show and enjoy it from a reasonable enough seat. We don't mind waiting in line for an hour or so. But, we're not huge eaters, especially at Disney where we prefer to "graze" through the parks. So, I guess the specific questions are: Should we book the dinner pkg and, if not, can you suggest a day and/or time that might be less crowded than another? TIA! (Did I mention that I'm really excited!!!)

I've been to two CP now, and used a dining package both times. And both times I have stood in the 'package' line for 45 minutes. I did see a lot of people lined up on the other side of the theater though, in the no-pkg line. I believe they started lining up about 60-90 minutes before the show. Most of them got in but their groups had to split up since there weren't very many seats of 3 or more together at that point. The no-pkg line gets to enter about 20 minutes after the pkg line does.
If I had to make a choice as to what show to do, without a pkg, it would be the early one. That show seems to be less crowded since most people like to go after dark and get the full effect. I would try the early show and get there at least an hour before it starts to get in line.
