Thanks in part to the help I've received here, I'm getting closer to having my first family trip to the UK planned.

I think I've finally found a nice place for four of the six of us to stay in London. We'll be (if nothing else goes wrong) at the Allen House at 8 Allen St in Kensington. We need somewhere close by for our two grown kids to sleep. We don't need anything fancy, just clean and safe.

EasyHotel was suggested by the Allen House as a good option because they are only a few blocks away. They would work, but they don't refund cancellations at all and we're still hoping we might luck into an upgrade at Allen House to a bigger unit if they have a cancellation. I'd rather reserve something cancellable.

I've found several options on the various websites, but the cheaper ones all get horrid reviews. Can anyone suggest a place for two big kids to lay their heads June 24 - 29 close to the Allen House?

Also, we're renting a car for nearly a month in Manchester, so I'm assuming the cheapest option will be to find somewhere to park it, even if it's somewhere outside the city, for the five nights we'll be in London. Any reasonably priced suggestions where we can just park and grab a train into the city will be appreciated. Or, if by some miracle there IS a reasonable carpark in the Kensington area, I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks for all your help.

Sheila

These people are well known and do a surprisingly good deal if you leave your car with them for the whole period while in London. They had a car park in Butlers Wharf near Tower of London for a total of under £50.

Can't help on the hotel front I'm afraid.

Is it not possible for you to leave your car at Manchester, then just get the train down to London?

Haven't the car rental company got any depots in London? I'm sure they'd be more than happy to park it up for you.
Even if it's a Manchester based company it may be worthwhile asking them in case they have any partner companies or contacts in London.

Great suggestions. Thanks so much.

The link to the carparks is very helpful if I decide to keep the car.

I considered dropping the car in Manchester, but getting the six of us and our luggage to London (especially in the middle of an extended trip when we may have groceries and the like) seemed daunting. My youngest uses a wheelchair, so that compounds the issue even more.

I did not consider, however, the chances of having a partner rental company in London that might just let me leave the car there. Excellent thought!

I feel like I'm very behind in my planning, since we leave in less than a month.

Hi Sheila!

I just got back from the third trip to London I've made in less than 2 years. I hope you have a nice trip (I went to Paris as well). :)
