Hi, I know this has been asked before, but thought I'd give you experts the time of day we'd be traveling. If we fly into TPA from Westchester NY, it saves $571 (3 adults). Also the Tampa airport gets us into Florida 2 hours earlier, not a huge time difference, it was more for the money savings. We are flying home from Ft Meyers, so it's only 1 way. The flight is supposed to land at 10:12 a.m. on a Monday, first week of August. I know there are nightmare stories of I4-if we land on time, get luggage and car, maybe on the road by early lunch time-how long do you think to WDW?
Thanks!!

In Google Maps, you can change the departure time to see how long a trip might take on a certain day/time of day (based on historical traffic patterns. Leaving TPA at 11am on the first Monday in August, the drive could take you anywhere from 1 hour and 40 minutes to 2.4 hours.

Flew into Tampa in March. My luggage was there as soon as I got to the baggage area. It is a shuttle ride to the rental lot, which adds a little time. Will you be able to go straight to the car? I would definitely allow a minimum of 2 hours driving, you never know with construction and accidents, but you should be OK at that time.

Agree with the PP's that your drive time from TPA to WDW could be as long as 2 hours. But I would think that 1.5 hours is more like it barring any accidents along the way.

ok thanks. We rent from Alamo, so we can go directly to the car. We will have to give it some thought-I also want to see dropping off car rental at a different airport than pick up. Picking up in MCO and drop off in Fort Meyers, the prices were ridiculous, I wonder if picking up at TPA will make any difference in pricing, thanks everyone!

Something to look into. Pretty much anytime you pick up and drop off at different locations, they'll add a 'one-way' fee to your rental. I have seen sometimes that if I drop off at one airport location and pick up at another one, I don't get that fee. Definitely put it in for your dates and see what you get.

ok thanks! You really have to look into everything before booking now! I remember the old days when you could go to a travel agent, pay them and off you went, lol!
