Another potentially stupid Carry On question

I have one more carry on question, that I will warn you maybe stupid! I'm taking a 3 day trip and hoping to carry on my luggage in a duffel bag. I know I'm allowed one more small carry on, which would be purse etc, but want to carry a small tote bag of sorts and plan to put my purse in that along with a few other items, magazines, book, mp3 player, camera etc. Is it ok to have my purse within another tote to be considered the additional carry on? :confused3

Yep, it's no problem as long as that tote will fit under your seat. The duffel bag needs to be small enough to fit in the overhead. (Unless you are on a smaller plane where everything goes underneath at planeside anyway)

Um, I think clkelly means '...fits under the seat in front of you' :) Under your seat will be the personal item belonging to the passenger seated behind you... unless you're in a bulkhead seat and the flight attendant makes you put both your bags in the overhead compartment and you're sure somebody "acquired" your digital camera while you slept except oops! you finally unpacked your suitcase completely and now find yourself the owner of FOUR digital cameras, this being the only one you actually know how to operate... but I digress :teeth:

Oh - and it wasn't a stupid question!

Thanks! I'm hoping my duffel bag will make the carry on requirement, but as the day nears, I'm finding it fuller and fuller.;) If it has to be checked than so be it! I haven't measured the other bag yet, but it's not very big, so I'm pretty certain it will work. Thanks for answering!
