Well this is our 1st trip as DVC members. We arrived May 30, 2006 around 6pm. We booked a studio, since I wanted save my points and we have been used to the regular hotel rooms sizes anyways. I didn't care where we would stay at, at the resort, we had a rental care (convertible), but we ended up in The Springs room 3232, overlooking well the road way and The "Theatre", I don't know what they do in there, it not listed on the map, but It says "Magic Music Days" which I know what that is, but I never saw anyone go in or out of the building.

The first day, we rested, were coming for northern CA so just adjusted to the time change of 3 hours and the HEAT and HUMIDTY ouch. Late in the evening around 9 ish we took a drive down to one of the other DVC resorts Disney’s Boardwalk. It was nice and lots of outside activities. Clowns and magicians and such. We headed back to SSR to hit the beds. OK, studio is nice only has one queen bed. My daughter and I are on the trip she is 21 and will sleep in the same bed, but we decided to open up the pull out bed. It is much better than any pull out bed I have ever slept on because there are not those agonizing bars that hit you in that spot in the back. But now for the bad part that padding on the pull outs are only about 3 inches thick and kind of soft in a way, well they don’t support the body you just sink down to the board underneath, so I thought lets get creative. The cushions on the sofa are very comfortable. We lined them up tightly wrapped the sheet around them. I think she is more comfortable than I am after all. Now she is only 5’2” so if someone tall wanted to sleep on the bed, I would be sure to bring an air bed to put on top and it would be great.

I also have seen people ask the question here if 5 people could fit in the room. I would say yes, but you would have to move the extra furniture around. I believe even 6 could fit very tightly. In fact you could put a twin air bed out on the balcony HA HA, just kidding, they would probably kick you out if you did that. There is a nice small refrig, microwave, coffee maker and toaster in small kitchen type area. The bathroom area is nice one large sink and a pretty large closet. The tub and stool have a lot of room, much more that they average price hotel rooms. We think the room is nice, the only thing we would change at all is just have two regular beds. I think OKW has two. So I might try that next time.

Anyway the 2nd day May 31, 2006, we decided to get going kind of late. 10am. We went to MK. It was pretty busy, but what got us the most was the Heat and Humidity. We wandered around had lunch about 2 at Columbia House Tavern and then off to Haunted Mansion, Small World, it is looking quite lovely all bright and cheery, they refurbished last time we where here, and then went to Mickey’s philharmonic 3D show. My daughter is a musician and just loves this show me too. We are still both kids. We decided to head back and rest some as I still had some online work assignments to take care of back home. As we began to drive back to the resort, it started to rain. Well pored for a few mins. Florida typical stuff. By the time we got back to the resort it stopped, we dawned our swim suits and headed to the pool. Yes it is a bite smaller than I expected, but it is still large enough, the capacity is 180 people. I think there were maybe 20 so it was great. Pool was warm and it became cooler as the evening progressed. As we made our way back to room after getting some delicious drinks at the bar, (spendy). My daughter got a not so nice phone call from a new guy friend, not boy friend saying he got together with an old flame. She walked clear through the room and out to the balcony. So you know how those silly phone calls go, she was kind of mad, but they were not real tight and she was talking with another young man who actually works for Disney Studios in Burbank. As I walked in the room, I noticed that something seemed disturbed and I thought no one would be coming in the rooms to do any cleaning or anything, but the room smelled really good and I know we did bring any cologne, then I looked up and saw a BIG bouquet of pink flowers on the table with a card to my daughter, I thought the guy was playing a joke on her, but no. It was from the new guy in Burbank; I banged on the door and told her to look at what was on the table, the table she just stormed past. Anyway she hung up the phone and got over her anger and moved on. Well, she is just going through the teen age stuff even though she is 21. She will learn someday. Ha Ha, the growing pains.

We headed back to MK, now it has cooled way down and is very enjoyable. We went to the crystal palace for dinner, it was very good. It was 9:30 by the time we get done, stood in the circle area for the fireworks presentation of Wishes, very good, great spot lots of room around us, then headed back to the car. We didn’t take the express monorail, packed with people, we took the resort rail which goes to the cars also, but stops at the Contemporary Resort for about 30 seconds and then on to the transportation center and we were on our way. Back to the room that now smells like beautiful flowers. And to bed after writing our reports. What a good trip so far, more to come.

I love it! Especially the part about your daughter getting flowers. It's great to be 21, isn't it? But like you said, we're all kids (especially at WDW).

Glad to hear you're enjoying SSR. Can't wait to go back! Enjoy the rest of your trip.

I'm enjoying reading your live trip report. I'm sooo jealous right now. I want to be there too. Ok, I'm over that now.

Can't wait to hear more.

Enjoy your trip!

Oh, so loving the report! What a great mother/daughter trip! And hey, between you, me and the rest of the DIS, the guy back at the Studios...well, he sounds like a keeper! Thanks for the heads up on the sofa sleeper! DS slept on the one in our 1BDR at Christmas, but I'll get to try the one in the studio when I take Dsis and Dniece in July, so I'll try to remember your tip if I find it to be too soft.

Anything to report about the Turf Club? Has it gone to totally TS yet?

Oh, and the Theater? You're right, it just seems to be there. I heard a CM say that it's used for special events like the Disney's Magical Music Days...that is when WDW hosts various high school bands and choirs to perform for the guests.

Hope you have a wonderful trip! I'm heading to your usual stomping grounds tomorrow...DL for a first trip there and yep, using our points.

Yes - I would absolutely love a mother daughter trip, but I don't think for us it will every happen. I would also life a sister/sister trip, but again, I don't think it would ever happen. Thanks for sharing!

Well it is “now” Thursday ha ha, just go with it I know its not, To start with the bad stuff and get it over with, it is hot and humid again, but there is a strong breeze. We are heading off to DAK, we have the car do drove over to the park from SSR only time table. We are still on CA time up late to bed late. We haven’t been DAK in a few years and noticed has the trees have really grown in, makes it a bit cooler is some area especially with the breezes. We of course headed to Asia as to retrieve a fast past for EE we had a 3 hour wait. We toured back though the shops and decided to have lunch at the Flame Tree Barbecue. Food was really good, we got the DDE so we got so much food it was great sort of. Not on DDE. Great for really get your monies worth, but, it was hard getting dinner reservation, had to just do walk ups, didn’t know what I wanted to do ahead of time. I felt like we were doing our touring around where to eat, that go old after awhile, and I felt like we were eating too much just so we would get our money’s worth. Don’t think I would do that again. Usually, we only go out to one big dinner during a trip.

We headed to dino land and went on DINOSAUR, it is great, and it reminded us of DL’s Indiana Jones Adventure ride. Then looked around at the shop, man I was getting very hot. It is now the heat of the day 2:30 and it is our ride time, you should have seen all the people beginning to wilt everyone very red in the face drinking lots of bottled water. We were getting tired also, but finally it was our turn on the ride. Great Ride, It is not my favorite but is my 2nd. We would put it like a combination of DL Matterhorn, Big Thunder Mountain, and my daughter says like DL Parris Indiana Jones ride. It is great; my favorite is we Rock’n Roller Coaster in MGM. We headed back to Discovery Island and had to do a Bugs life. We were in middle of the 2nd row. I thought it would be a great place but it turned out to be great. By this time it was 4pm HOT, and I am very weary, we did not see as much as we would have liked to. We did see they are making major changes to the stage area where Tarzan’s Rock was located looks like it is going to be more of an indoor stage, it is rumored to be a stage show for Finding Nemo, but hay, this is coming for a CM board, they could just be blowing smoke ya know just to keep everyone guessing. Just as we began to leave it start to rain, going timing we didn’t get wet. More to tell you about getting wet later. HA….

We got back to a dip in the pool and had some cool drinks again. Very slushy like, I could even taste the rum. It was much busier than the day before about 70-80 people out, but had lots of places to sit (lounge) and swim, never felt crowed. We head back to the room, feeling a bit water logger after swimming for about 1.5 hours and having our adults slushy’s  to get ready for Dinner at the Contemporary’s Steak House. We had late reservations at 8:30 pm. We again used the DDE so way to much food, Onion rings were fabulous, cooked perfectly, that was my daughter starter, I had Caesar salad, daughter had new York stake and back potato and I had the prime rib, it was just OK, the stake was wonderful. We had cheese cake for desert. We couldn’t eat it because we were full, took it back with us. By the time we were done it was 9:45, we went out to the concourse and look at the pins, We are big fans they the sales CM told us to go out on the balcony and see the fireworks there were about 30 people out there is was great, would have been even better if we could have had the music piped out to the landing. Anyway after they were over we headed back to our resort for some needed rest.

Friday we decided to take a day off of Disney. We took a driving day to Cocoa Beach and by the space center. It was a wonderful day; weather was fabulous all day as we were driving with the top down all the way. We wandered the beach and of course had to hit none other than Ron Jon’s. to get the famous tee-shirt. We just had a great mom daughter day together sing and shaken our heads down the road listen to load load music. We had about 15 mins to go and guess what the thunder clouds began to form and it got a little cooler, my daughter is freaking out, mom you got to pull over and put the top up. I said this is not a good place lets just wait a bit. I went by two more off ramps and the on the 3rd off ramp which looked really slow and not much traffic I pulled off got to the stop light and put the top up just in time for it to start poring. Boy was I lucky, I told my daughter it was luck just skill. HA I was lucky. Only rained for about 2 miles then it was done. We came back to the resort and hit the pool later in the evening to cool off. We decided to get food at SSR Artist Pallet. Pretty good, we took it back to our room watched a little TV and then off to sleep.

Now it is Saturday, my daughter and I decided to head to Epcot. At this point we have done a lot of walking and I have a weak ankle and so it is pretty swollen, so I decided to spend money on ECV. Please don’t slam me on this. I didn’t use any of the handicap access we parked and waited in line like everyone else for the rides nor did we sit in the handicap parking areas for the fireworks shows. I just could walk the entire park like I wanted to do and not have to take a break. We went all over and all the rides except we missed Crushes turtle talk, we didn’t want to wait as log as it looks the line was, They un ever 18 mins but it would have taken at least an hours to get our turn. We had many other attractions to see.

We headed back to the hotel for bed, We didn’t us the DDE for dinner that day saved some for a 2 spot of Hoop Dee Doo Review show on our last night on the plan.

Sunday, last day at SSR and transferring to CSR for my convention. So I hope everyone has a wonderful time at SSR as we did. I would say the only disappointment we had as a DVC member is the perks, we don’t feel we got any except the valet at Contemporary Resort. We used the DDE for food so I guess the perks would be on food. I guess the AP’s are the ones with the purchasing perks. Anyway. Take care and have a good trip your self.

Time is short in life and if there is anyway to do a mom daughter tip do it you never know when you won’t be able too. I lost my mom 2 years ago and we used to do this with the three of us just about ever year for the last 13 years. I some time get a tear when I see a lady who looks like her at WDW, I wish she was still here and having fun at WDW.

I enjoy reading your reports. What a great time you had!!

Bobbi :goodvibes

PS. We have 2 adult DS's and I did a "Mom/Son" trip with each of them.
With the oldest it was a weekend at his college in New Hampshire, before the school opened for the year, and we visited historic sites and went whale watching. With the second, I went to the Great Smoky Mountain NP. You are right, these memories are very very precious.
