Another one of those, What would you do questions, staying @ the POR in early June with a big group including some Disney 1st timers for a great rate of $74 (AP rate), would you try and get an upgrade to a deluxe at a great rate citing the concerns of staying @ POR with all the rumors of certain blocks of rooms being taken down, not getting king rooms, etc, so stay put or try and move up the ladder, thanks for any help..............

I'll be there starting May 26th for 6 nights...I don't want my trip to be ruined by construction workers tearing stuff down and being all loud...

hmm sounds interesting im staying there may 17th-25th. NO king rooms?????

I had ressies at POR for May 21-28. LONG story short, after reading this board daily, I realized that POR was going to be affected along with FQ. My brother in law and sister didn't want to be in a resort that was partially closed down, construction, etc. After LONG phone calls with Disney, (at first CRO didn't even believe or know about POR being affected, then CRO called POR directly for my BIL and confirmed, that YES, POR was going to undergo rennovations in May also.) we changed to the Yacht Club at the AXA rate of $229 plus tax. They REFUSED to give us any kind of deal like they are giving FQ because they said, and I QUOTE, "You won't even realize rennovations are taking place."

NOW I READ THAT PEOPLE HERE THAT WERE SUPPOSED TO STAY AT POR ARE GETTING THE POLY AT AN UNHEARD OF RATE!!!!!!!!

To say the least, I am very mad and ready to cancel everything, stay outside the park, and split my time between Universal and Disney. I would have liked a deluxe at $20 more a night for my inconvience too, instead of $100 more a night.

im worried. I dont know what to do myself. I dont want to ruin my vacation.

I have pasted a couple of posts taken from this board concerning the rehab at POR. It appears that CRO from the very beginning has not been on the up & up concerning the the start of rehab at POR. There have been other posts besides these but now it really DOES APPEAR that some rehab will begin at POR on MAY 5 as some of us had feared but were told otherwise by CRO. Doesn't speak well for Disney! It does appear they had the intent to keep their guests in the dark concerning this situation. Anyone here remember Pinochio? Here are some of the recent posts!

I got a call from CRO yesterday. We were staying in a King bed room at POR May 3 -10.

The are starting construction on BOTH resorts (all of FQ - part of POR beginning May 3)

I was told - either I have to take either a 2 double bed room OR move.

The offered me $139 at the Polynesian....I moved!!

on May 3rd all of FQ will be closed and building 80/85 in the mansions will close. And buildings 34-39 will close in Aligator bayou will close as well. Taking the inventory down to about 1,000 rooms.

Hey, on a "possible" upside to us POR people, maybe the busses won't be crowded! lol :p

Anyways, for our trip last Feb 2002, when POR closed down, we patiently waited and waited (while inside freaking out) and lo and behold on Dec 20, 2001 CRO called me and offered me a move AT NO COST from AB (trundle) to AKL deluxe room (5 plus baby). Now, I was paying AP rate of $103 (inc. trundle) and basically STOLE AKL Deluxe pool view room! hee hee... got us hooked on AKL is all it did!

So, while I am noticing some movement from POR (king bed), I wonder if they will start bumping the trundle people also? The downside of this, is that we really WANTED to stay at POR this time! lol... So, Disney is pretty good at renovations, so, unless they get rid of BOB, close the pool bar and shut down the busses, I think we will be fine. I figure it this way, NO POFQ people on the busses, and less POR people on the busses makes for less wait on July 4th! lol :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

HEY! We are ALL GOING TO DISNEY! Life can't be that bad, eh?

Karen (the sun is out, can you tell? ;) )

Yes the bus situation could be a possible upside to the partial POR closing but I would think that if they took the trouble to cut back on the number of rooms available they would also cut back on the number of buses servicing the remaining rooms. Time will tell I suppose. It's just impossible to get a straight answer from CRO. Of course they could be purposely being left in the dark too concerning this situation! Doesn't speak well for Disney! Like many have already mentioned though--we are going no matter what--but it sure raises the level of stress when we should have increased levels of excitement! Pixie dust where are you??
