Being still kind of new to DVC (been a member 1 year) I have a question regarding points.

Here's the scenario. My UY is October, which means my 2010 points will be coming this October. I borrowed some points from 2010 and I have another reservation for 2011 This leaves me with 30 points remaining from 2010. In November, I'm planning on making an 11 month reservation for October 2011, my next UY. Do I need to bank those 30 points before making a reservation if I plan to use them for the reservation?

Yes, points in your October, 2010 Use year are valid for travel from October 1, 2010 thru September 30, 2011. In order to use them beyond those dates they will need to be banked. You can bank the points and make the reservation during the same phone call.

You can also bank them online through the Members website. You will be given a confirmation number and a email receipt.

FYI - those 2010 points are already in your account. They are deposited in advance. Your account should have October 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 if you look online.

This is good to know. We have a June UY, and have 333 points left in our '10 UY and our next ressie will be for travel in August '11, which will be our '11 UY. So when I call in September to book it, I can ask the CM to bank the appropriate # of points needed, then book the ressie, at the same time? Is there any reason to bank them ahead of time? Thanks.

I like to keep my contacts with MS short and if I can do it myself, that's what I do. Some MS Advisers are great but others take forever and make mistakes. I have to watch and double check their work, then call back and have things corrected. Granted our account isn't the norm, 26 contracts and several reservations each year, I think that it confuses them. :confused3

Thank you all, I kind of figured that was the way it worked, I was just making sure.

I also like to bank my points online ahead of time. Then I know it's done, it's right, and there's not an extra step involved when I call MS.
