Gee! Not even a "Dear PayPal Member!" in the opening! They're so shrewd! I love the misspellings and poor grammar, too! I certainly wouldn't pick up on those! :rotfl:

:rotfl2: It makes me wonder how anyone could even fall for this ?!?! I always see the misspelled words first !

I just got the same message for my ebay account. Anyhow, if anyone is ever curious whether or not an email is legit just go to the website without using a link in an email. Go to your browser and type in paypal.com or ebay.com. This way you know you aren't going to a copy of the site. You can then check your account status safely.

The phishing attempts never end. I've received the above letter and varients of more times than I can count. I also get at least 2-3 phishing attempts for my ebay and Paypal accounts per week.

It doesn't stop with Paypal and Ebay. BE CAREFUL of any attempt at Phishing. I received a few attempts to get at my Hilton Honors account. Apparently its a big problem because HH has a spot on its website warning of this. I almost fell for it! Just this week I received a very similar letter to the one above (minus the misspellings) trying to get at my Chase account. However, the one that pi$$es me off the most is the one trying to get at my Barnes and Noble account (is nothing sacred?). This one is supposedly in response to my request to reset my password (which I recently did). It asks for "verification information". Two red flags--it doesn't address me by full name, and it has a different email address than Barnes and Noble. I tried my password and it works just fine without "verification". Apparently someone is reading my emails to concoct phishing attempts based on recent activity (such as changing a password), which could lull a person into believing they're legit.

It you even suspect an email is phishing, don't click on the link provided. Even if you don't send the requested information, they could insert a cookie or spyware into your system. If you think the email is from whatever business sent it, go to them direct (open another browser). Usually there's a section of messages sent you. If not, call the business. Otherwise, just ignore the request for information unless and until something actually happens to your account (most phishing scams threaten to inactivate an account if the requested information is not supplied in a short time). If indeed your account is suspended deal with the company direct, NOT through any links provided by suspicious emails.
