We are sailing on the September 11, 2004 cruise. My husband has a passport that expires October 25,2004. Does anyone see a problem with this?

I seem to have read somewhere that the passports couldn't expire within a month of the cruise, but I can't find where I saw it to show DH.

Anyone have any dealings with this?

Thanks,

Cathy

I don't think that would be a problem...since you don't really need a passport for the cruise anyway. So for the purpose of id...i think it should work just fine. From what I sounds like they use to take expired passports for id (at least at one point). If your real uncertian..I'd just call DCL and ask....that way you would know first hand.

See you on board :teeth:

I don't see a problem with the passport the way it is.

No you don't necessarily need a passport, but it is a really good thing to have. It makes life easier when checking in and out. A lot easier (for me) than trying to make sure I have a birth certificate.

But if it's not expired, they shouldn't have any reason to question it.

When you get home from the cruise, have DH renew his passport. It's the best form of ID there is. I'm glad that I have one now.

I can honestly say that my passport was barely looked at. Maybe for name verification only.

A passport is a great form of identification and since I travel internationally for business I do keep mine up to date. But I must say there are some immigration officials that barely look at passports. I recently went on a trip to Europe and I received the greatest scrutiny during my return trip to the U.S. I was interviewed for about 5 minutes in Amsterdam (before boarding a plane to Detroit) and then questioned again when going through U.S. immigration. The officials in the other countries I visited (France and Germany) barely looked at my passport. And hardly anyone stamps passports anymore. What is the point of having all those pages if they are left blank?

Your passport is good for any and all purposes up to the day it expires. If your trip is scheduled to end before the expiration date, you are fine. Obviously, the passport is only one of the forms of ID that is acceptable on DCL.

Some places will accept an expired passport for a period of time, although since 9/11 this practice is rapidly fading away. A renewal is cheaper than an original. I'd renew as soon as you return home.

You may have read it in the documents sent by your TA.
