Can't seem to find an answer to this one on other threads---
My hubby's a "casual" type. Only wears suits to funerals and weddings------We're bringing a jacket for Palo's, but he has a couple of beatiful Coogi sweaters which are perfect for the weather. They're about as dressy as sweaters get---but I don't want to be out of place. Any thoughts? Thanks Kim

For dinner that would be underdressed. We were on the Magic, and the overwhelming majority of men were definitely in suits and ties, with a few tuxes and sportcoats mixed in.

For brunch the sweaters would be perfect though.

Are you on the Wonder or Magic? On the Magic he will be expected to were the jacket to dinner at Lumiere's, as well as a suit and tie (minimum) on formal and semi-formal nights.

If he has the jacket for Palo that's perfectly fine. :)

The sweaters would be fine for the regular dining nights in the restaurants as well. If you're on the 7-night cruise he'd want to wear the jacket on formal/semi-formal night too.

Enjoy your cruise! :)

I have been on several DCL cruises and wear a sportscoat and a silk crew neck shirt without a tie. Due to a former sports life and severe Arthritis of the neck it is very hard to find shirts with necks large enough to fit. We have not gone to Palo's because I was ill on the night we had reservations. I do not see where they would refuse to seat me dressed in this attire. Has anyone gone to Palo without wearing a tie????

Many men go to Palo without wearing a tie, a sport coat and a silk shirt would be perfectly fine. :)

He does not need a jacket for Lumiere's, unless it is semi-formal or formal night. The dress code, is now set to be the same for the whole ship, not by the dining room.

Thanks all---
we're on the Wonder for a 4-day. It seems like the best thing is to bring his jacket (and probably a tie---it doesn't take much room) I remember that once we went to a nice restaurant here in Pittsburgh---the restaurant lent him a jacket----so he was wearing about a $50 sports jacket over a $350 sweater. The safest thing is to bring it along.
By the way, these boards are great----I've picked up dozens and dozens of terrific hints that are no where else to be found!! I didn't think anything could make this trip more magical. I guess I'll do my part and leave any new tips I pick up next week when we get back---even though our next trip will be a looong time away:( Thanks everyone

Our favorite Palo attire that we've spotted had to be the high-fashion couple in which the man was wearing an eye-searing pink shirt and blue jeans and the woman was wearing a trailerpark-esque flowered sundress (more like a house dress) with rubber flip-flops. The same night, a girl flounced in in blue jeans and BAREFOOT!! The sad thing is, I don't think any of these people realized how out of place they looked. Obviously you won't be turned away for underdressing, but I think it's fun to take the opportunity to dress up...especially at Palo, since it's a special place. :D

We did the 4 day cruise and I told DH he HAD to take a jacket to wear to Palo and Triton's. He wore a shirt, tie and the jacket on the night we ate at Palo and I was quite surprised to find he was in the minority. Many of the men there were just wearing dress pants and short sleeved polo shirts. I would still recommend wearing the jacket, he didn't feel (or look) overdressed and it was nice to get dressed up.

As far as dressing for Palo, the suggested dress is simply "jacket recommended" most nights.

Nobody should think that Palo requires a tux or suit every night. In fact, I think it would be unusual to see a tux at Palo, except on the formal or semi-formal evening. If dining in Palo on the formal or semi-formal evening -- then, yes -- formal or semi-formal would be appropriate at Palo.
