DD just sent me a text message - a kid at her school was caught with a kilo of marijuana in the bathrooms at school -

Now a kilo is a lot - so maybe the story is getting exagerated along the lines somewhere but....... OMG!!!!

A kilo is a huge amount for a single person tO be carrying around. The monetary value of it alone. Even if they were a dealer there would be no need to have that much on them. I wonder what the story behind it is?

Yeah 1 kilo sounds like an awful lot - I think that maybe a bit skewed. Can you imagine how these stories get a life of their own in the schoolyard gossip tree - Just the volume of it - Apparently it was a new kid, Year 9, (only 14) What a way to make friends huh!! Probably been kicked out of other schools.

They have to carry a school issued bag, and DD is always complaining about how big it is - I laughed and said well those big bags come in handy sometimes.

Well that kid has been expelled -

DD assures me that this is the closest she has been to anything like that. But we have discussed this sort of stuff many times - things go on like this everywhere - no matter what suburb or school you go to - but its not normal, definitely the majority of kids are pretty good. DD reckons you can tell the bad eggs right from kindergarten, and while I hate to write off five year olds - sometimes i think I agree.

I maintain that there are parallel universes going on - it happens but you dont have to be a part of it.

On a serious note - wow that is shocking isn't it. You can know it goes on all you like but when it comes so close to home it is frightening.

Almost as good as my explosives threat story ...yep April Fools Day a few years ago someone decided to email the whole school saying there was something in the chapel, library, principals office etc. That was a fun day - evacuated onto the main ovals, police helicopters, fair number of police on grounds. Thankfully it was an April Fools Day joke but it was pretty crazy at the time!
