Another newbie

Hi everyone.

I'm not really new here -- I've lurked for years. I actually thought I had registered back in 2009, but either I just imagined that in all my pre-trip excitement) or I have no brain and can't remember my login.

Anyway, I'm trying to find out more about Aulani.

I can't wait -- will definitely be doing WDW at some point, but might do Aulani first. Not sure.

Aulani is the new Disney resort on Oahu. (I can't post a link until I have 10 posts, but if you go to the Disney parks sit, its there)

It is opening August 2011.

I called and spoke with a CM this morning. Most of the resort will be opening in Phase 1. Not all the hotel and DVC rooms, but a good majority of them. All the facilities will be open at the beginning too.

There will be a character breakfast, they don't know the character though. I'm guessing either Hawaii Mickey or possibly Lilo & Stitch (who used to be at CA at DL).

Can someone tell me where on these forums I would post questions about Aulani? I've looked everywhere and it d/n seem to fit in any of the categories!

Hmmm- maybe the DVC board would be more in the know, but possibly some of the resort board people would know something.

I think so -- but they don't have an Aulani sub-forum. And Aulani is hotel + DVC, like the Grand Californian at DL I guess.

From what I've priced out so far, there wouldn't be a whole lot of difference between a studio at the Aulani DVC with renting points and booking a hotel room.

Oh wow sounds great. Never been to Hawaii. How long would you go for? We are at the poly now but considered points and blt. We love the stitch breakfast at the poly!

We usually stay 10 days when we go to Hawaii -- it kinda depends on flight times though. 7 days isn't long enough. 14 days is too long unless you do more than 1 island.

I agree about the breakfast at the Poly. It's probably our favorite character meal. Be sure to check it out if you end up in FL bubbaray!
