Another Newbie...

Hi, everyone. Well, we have decided to go to WDW next summer, probably late July or Aug 2009. Our kids are now 15, 12 and 6. We have been waiting for the 6 yo to get tall enough to ride with the whole family. After a family health scare, we decided it's time to go and stop putting it off. He can ride 90% of the rides. Heck, I don't want to even ride all those!

We are definitely wanting to do off site for one week. I have priced it out with this years rates and with airfare from DEN, we are probably looking at a bit over $4K. With food and souvenirs, we should be close to $5K. We would like a suite hotel near WDW parks. We will get a rental car but would prefer to take the shuttle to the parks. We are looking at a 6 day hopper to see all six parks. Any suggestions on off site suite hotels? A good pool and a fitness center would a plus. All other suggestions are welcome.

Welcome! There are a lot of nice options off-site - but honestly, you could still put together a really good plan on-site, and enjoy the benefits of being onsite. It's going to cost a lot either way - so I would encourage you to explore on-site just as much as exploring the off-site options. Especially if you are able to go in August during the traditional Free Dining period (mid-August into September) - if it's offered again next year. Each of the last few years it's been announced officially in April, so keep that in mind. You end up paying rack rate for the hotel, but the dining is included. It still works out better than paying for the dining plan as an add-on!

You might want to check the dvc renting. You could rent a villa on property at a really good price. We booked my brother a room at the Beach Club Villa's. He got a one bedroom for 5 nights and paid 1100.
