WE WILL BE IN DISNEY IN JULY AND WE ARE NOT RENTING A CAR. I WANT TO GET TO A GROCERY STORE (OFF SITE) WHAT OPTION DO I HAVE TO GET THERE? IS THERE LOCAL BUS TRANSPORTATION TAKING YOU INTO KISSIMMEE, CAB ETC?

ALSO I HAVE BEEN READING THE THREADS FOR SOME TIME AND THEY HAVE GOTTEN ME RATHER NERVOUS. WE ARE ARRIVING JULY 3, WITH 3 KIDS, 6 AND UNDER IN AGE, IS IT REALLY THAT BUSY AND WILL WE STILL ENJOY OUR HOLIDAY OR WILL IT BE ALOT OF WAITING IN LINES AND IMPATIENT CHILDREN (MINE). MAYBE I'M THINKING THE WORST!

ANY INSIGHT WOULD BE GREAT. :sad2:

Welcome to the site. :welcome: As you can see, I'm new too. I have been to Disney countless times and most at different times of the year. July is definately a busy one and yes, you will most likely be standing in lines, but that's okay. The parks are open at 0800 and most with the exception of AK, stay open til 2200-2400 if there is an extra magic hour. Trust me, your days will be long, but packed full of fun. Enjoy!

You didn't say how long your trip is, but we like to go a few days after the 4th since most people are there for the 4th and leave after it, then it's not so bad. We only went on the 4th once, and I don't want to scare you, but it was bad...very bad at the Magic Kingdom.

Since you are arriving on the 3rd, I assume you are staying at least 5 days (?) so you should have some nice days too. Plan plan plan....that's my biggest piece of advice. Arrive early, leave when it gets too crowded and come back in the late afternoon. As I said, that's when we always go and we have a ball....you will too as long as you are prepared.

I was reading the Birnbaums Official Walt Disney World Book 2006 and it said in the crowd chart that "Anytime school's out" is considered MOST CROWDED. Though, might I add that different states and other places have their vacations start at different times. I've also read that there is alot of rain but I'm not 100% sure because nobody can predict that.

My suggestion on food. Take a suitcase or 2 full of non-perishable food, then buy perishables at gift shop/food court. We took single-serving boxes of cereal, disposable bowls & utensils, small coffee pot (for hot water), cup of noodles, tea/coffee, snacks, gum, fruit snacks, peanuts, etc... The only thing we bought was milk each morning at gift shop (1 pint was enough for 4 bowls of cereal). Half gallons of milk were also avaiable, but we were at Pop Century and refrigerator was not available. We did bring a small fold down cooler and filled with ice from ice machine, but found that it melted real fast and was a pain. If you want fruit or semi-perishables, then just pack them well and bring them on the plane on a carry on.

We were on the Disney Dining Plan, so didn't eat a lot in our room. But it was a real timesaver in the morning, kids loved sleeping in & being able to eat a bowl of cereal in bed in the morning! Also, didn't have to deal with the horrible lines at Food Court in the mornings. Cup of noodles were great for those in between meal snacks, or on nights when we had late dinner reservations.

We just checked our food suitcase like normal at the airport. I read that there could be security problems at airport during screening (food odors sometimes set off bomb detection equipment). But I just told the agent and she said no problem, just check like normal.

Another great bonus -- after you eat all of the food -- you have an extra empty suitcase to bring home all your new Disney Treasures!

I also recommend you go to the water parks. They are a wonderful refreshing change from theme parks. My DD (14) and DS (7) like Typhoon Lagoon & Blizzard Beach almost better than the theme parks!

I think any time that you can go to WDW is great, you can figure out ways of getting around some of the lines and waiting times with your planning. Why not try Tourguide Mike out, I haven't used him but will be using him on my next trip, I hear that he can save you a lot of headaches.

I think the biggest thing to remember is to "stop and smell the roses" while you are there. Don't make it all about running from one place to the other, enjoy every minute for what it has to offer. Have a great time and happy planning!!!
