I am trying to plan for a 3 or 4 day cruise Jan 06. I was leaning towards the Land/Sea deal but after talking to a DVC member at work, I'm thinking it will prob be cheaper to rent points for the land portion and just book the cruise sep. I am open to feedback on this idea. I would like to stay at Wilderness. My big question (that I cannot find the answer to anywhere else:) is there will be four of us, DH, myself, our 5yo son, and my SIL. What do you think is the most economical yet sizable room that will fit all of us? All the brochures say sleep 3-4 but they don't say exactly how. Are there any staterooms below a cat 4 that have a fold down bunk, a sofa bed, and a reg bed? Next question, we went to MK in 01/04 staying at All-Star. We were there for 4 nites. Would you recommend spending 3 ngts Disney then 4 nght cruise or vice-versa. We are not cram-it-all-in-one-trip kind of travelers, so we will be going only to MK and maybe one other park, but are concerned about our 5yr old getting bored on ship...I know that sounds silly. Sorry so long and hopefully not full of disboards faux pas (this is my inaugural posting:), and I appreciate any opinions and recommendations, just reading prev postings have been so helpful already!

Welcome to the DIS!

Cannot answer all your questions, but the only rooms that hold more than four are cat 4 and up. It is often cheaper to book two connecting cabins than paying for the cat 4. You can jam the door open to allow easy flow between the rooms. The second person in the connecting will pay full fare, but it can still be cheaper than the higher categories. Nearly all other cabins hold four. There are twins, convertable to a queen in each cabin. Each cabin has a couch that is a twin along the wall. The fourth person sleeps in a drop down twin that comes out of the ceiling, making "bunk beds" out of the couch. Some of the cabins, notably the Navigator's Verandah cabins, only sleep three since the configuration does not have the drop down twin. Check out Barb's site for photos, Google Platinum Castaway for the link. Also the Passporter is a great resource.

Go for the four day cruise. Even a week isn't enough for me.
