Another new booking - Easter 2008

Easyjet have just released flights from EDI to CDG and we managed to book 4 in March for an amazing £50 each return. (Got to use those annual passes )So My friend and I and our two dd's (5 and 3) are off again in March for 4 days during our Easter holidays - Yee Haa !

Has anyone been at Easter . Is there anything special to look out for ?

I went at Easter this year & the parks were very busy!

I'm not sure if they do anyting different at Easter as this year they had just launched the 15th anniversary celebrations.

We are hoping to go next Easter too. I've priced up flights and they would be about £80 each for us return, we would prefer to go by Eurostar though so I am waiting on them coming back to me with the chance to book. I am hopeful that this will happen within the next couple of weeks.

We are restricted to travelling between 21st and 24th March, what dates have you booked, and where are you staying?

We are going for 24th-28th March and have provisionally booked the Marriot but may change to the Holiday Inn/Explorers

We are also intending going at Easter as well cant remember the exact dates but I think its the Tuesday after Easter weekend (its part of a 2 wk break in France again) will probably stay at Holiday Inn or Explorers but not sure yet. As we will have APs may look at what discount we will get on other hotels.

We went this Easter and it was VERY busy and hot. AS it was the start of 15 I think there were a lot of local visitors there. It will be interesting to compare it to the Summer crowds

We also went last Easter when it seemed busy but not as busy as this year. There were decorations just inside the park with a giant see through Easter Egg stuffed full of Thumper Rabbits. There were also 2 shows on throughout the day. One was with the Mad Hatter, Alice and friends having an Unbirthday party. There were lots of songs and dancing and easter eggs were then given out to some children in the crowd. Luckily DD got one and they were decent sized eggs not just mini ones. Cant remember what the other show was- I think something to do with the Queen of Hearts.
THis had all disappeared when we went into the park on the Tuesday.

They also trialled EMH

None of that was on this year but it was the start of the 15th celebrations.

Next year it will still be during the 15th so they may just stick to whats happening anyhow.

I assume that neither of you have children at school then, or that you are taking them out of school? If you think it's school holiday then have you checked?

I ask because Hampshire is not scheduled to have their school holiday until the start of April, due to Easter being early next year. It's for this reason that we are restricted to 21st - 24th March

The holidays where we live are over the Easter period despite Easter being so early.
DDs school were considering only having a week at Easter and then a 2 week break in May/June. We had more or less got our heads round going then instead (it would be warmer possibly- although judging by this year possibly not!!!!, less busy etc) but then the school were not allowed by the LEA to change the hols so we're back to Easter again. We're semi booked- Booked the camping bit before hand and the travel there and back and given ourselves a few days to do Dis but not booked the Dis bit yet.

That's interesting. I wonder how this is going to affect prices generally, since they usually increase significantly during school holidays, don't they?

I wonder if they will seize the opportunity to increase prices both at Easter and during the two weeks at the start of April? I'm not sure when other counties plan to have their holidays.

Certainly something worth checking for anyone planning to get away next Easter anyway.

I'm in Scotland so we have different Easter holidays than you seem to have Annette. In fact it differs per region here too . My DD will be in Primary 1 and is finishing up on Thursday 20th for 2 weeks and a day so we are going in our school holiday period.

disneyangel, my DD will only be off 21st - 28th March, then they have their 2 weeks around about 6th April I believe. I could go back then, but it would mean arriving the day before our APs expire and I would rather go and get these renewed beforehand.

DD will be in year 11, so any time off in term time will be strictly out of the question. We also hope to go in June when she finishes her GCSEs (to celebrate!)

We ordered the brochure as we fnd it easier to compare prices that way.

Interestingly the week before Easter - from 18th - 23rd is highest price. The week after is cheaper (mid price) from 24th- 3rd April (excluding the weekend after easter) then from 6th April it is cheapest rate (excluding some Fridays and Saturdays)

Not sure why the 2nd week is cheaper as this includes Easter Monday but its one reason we choose to go that week instead of week previous. Although it wont affect us much as we are getting APs.

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to this at all then!

While we could wait for the 2 weeks at the start of April and go then, there is the risk then that we don't get the sponsorship we would need to extend our APs another year to cover this time.

Okay, I confess, I am trying to get two trips out of it next year
