Another Mooning! ;)

I had set up a possible trip to a local lake to photograph the largest, brightest full moon for awhile, inviting YesDear and some other local photographers. The plan was to meet about 4:30pm December 11, for the best combination of daylight and moonlight. I even planned to rent a 400mm lens for the occasion, and let those who had good cameras (Canons) use the lens.

The rain was a problem, over 1" of it that night, but it was the tornado warnings that really held things up. I can stand getting a little wet but I am not into the 'Dorothy flying through the Kansas sky' thing.

Anyway, the moon peeked out between some clouds Friday and I photographed it from the driveway with the usual 200mm & 1.4x extender. Here is the full frame:

I was all ready to shoot the moon last night but when I went outside about 9pm the fog was rolling in and could just barely see its glow. Tonight was clear so I tried again. I cropped it down a bit.

I finally got a shot of the moon after waiting for a long time (decades). I had to shoot it at ISO 1600 because of the heavy cloud cover, but I got one!

I couldn't do this with my p-n-s!

Bob with the rain, I assumed you were not going to try to drown us! I did see that the moon looked great coming up Friday night. We will get it done.

My friend got his 600mm f4 so maybe he will let me use it!

I will probably have to leave my wife as a deposit though! LOL
