I accidentally posted this on the Welcome Board. Duh!

For the two days prior to WDW we're going to be in Orlando doing SeaWorld and the like. We're renting a car for those two days. I was thinking that we would take the ME from the airport after we drop off the rental car. We're still flying in on a WDW partner airline but do you think it's going to be a problem? I went to set up the ME online but it wants my arrival flight information. I'm hoping if I call in they will be able to set it up then.

Any opinions? Has anyone done this before?

First of all, it makes no difference which airline you use. ANYONE can use DME, regardless of airline.

You are eligible to use DME even if you're not flying in on the same day you're checking in to a WDW resort. The eligibility criteria for using DME are:

* named on reservation at a WDW owned-and-operated resort
* traveling from MCO to that resort on the day you are checking-in
* traveling from that resort to MCO on the day you are checking-out
* [DME is also OK as a one-way operation -- you don't have to take it both coming and going if you don't want or need to]

You can either explain your situation to the DME person when you call, or you can look up a plausible flight arrival time and say you'll be arriving that way.

The only thing you won't be eligible for is the automatic luggage delivery. Be smart and drop off your luggage at your WDW resort (and have them store it for you) before you return the rental car.

Thanks so much for the info! I'll be sure to drop off our luggage before we head to the airport. I hadn't even thought of that.
