Just spent almost twenty some hours without power. No internet, no lights, no TV and no heat when it was 20 degrees outside. Jevs, I needed you to send me some Australian heat!!! And that ice cream truck; actually looks rather delicious!!

I hate power outages! The cold, the dark, and no internet/tv??? Did you actually stay in your home all that time?

Heck no. My brother, DH and I beelined it for a casino in a neighboring town. Played blackjack, ate at the buffet, had a couple of rum and cokes and came home 40 minutes before they finally turned back on our power!! So the day wasn't a complete wash.....no pun references intended to Jevs' laundry post.

Now that's a person who knows how to work a bad situation into fun playtime! Casino? Buffet? Rum & Cokes? Some years ago a ginormous ice storm struck my area and we were without power for 5 days, it was total misery. I tried to stay the first night but had to seek shelter after that. When I returned home after the 5 days the water in the toilets had begun to ice over.

Now that's cold!!!! Our house got down in low 50s which was bad enough. The cats were confused and thought they were outdoors and not in!!

We did a smaller version of this for 3 days when our Geo-therm went down in 2010. I told Dh if it happens again I'm hotel (nearby) bound with or without him!!

I'm with ya on the hotel stay.........if it had been much longer we would have been Holiday Inn bound and then I could have definitely posted on the surgeon thread!!!!

Hello, people! Did anyone else have a surprise visit from Snow Miser this weekend? We had a brief one day of winter which included a few hours of snow. Unfortunately, the ground was so warm from early visits by the other Miser brother, AKA Heat, that the snow didn't stick well or last long where it did manage to stick. I think the two brothers struck a compromise because we are now back to spring - - for now. Who knows what tomorrow will bring! And, yes, A Miser Brothers' Christmas is one of my favorite movies. Oh, and thankfully, all of our pretty blooms survived this brief winter visit. I really thought they'd be goners.

Hope you all are doing well. It's always fun to see what everyone is up to.
