Another live trip report...

I'm looking forward to your trip report. I just dropped DD and her boyfriend off at the airport. They'll be at Pop Century for a week. It would be cool to see them in some of your pictures!
I'll see what I can do. :)

I hope everyone was feeling better today and able to wear their slightly wrinkled suit case clothes as you marched around the parks!

Marlton Mom
Well, our luggage got in at about 4am. I called Bell Services this morning and they said "are you so-and-so or so-and-so?" so they knew all about it. :) They had our luggage here pretty quickly after calling. So, we all had fresh clothes today. Phew!

All in all, we had a really good day. Chef Mickey's food was better than ever, Leila was very well-behaved all day (!!!), and we had a lot of fun. Oh, and 840 pics/videos, 21 gigs. Yipes! Lots of duplicates/triplicates, but still, a bunch of stuff. Some stinkers and hopefully some winners, too. I'm pretty impressed, looking at the LCD, at how the K-5 is doing - and I gave it its first official soaking on Splash Mountain. :teeth: I thought it might have a slight focusing issue afterward, but it was just that the lens itself was covered in water droplets! :lmao:

Just emptied my memory card (I'm glad I picked up the 32g one, even if it is very slightly slower than my Sandisks) and am headed back to Magic Kingdom. EMH 'til 1am! Whoo!

Have a magical trip and can't wait for the photos.

Had a fun night with the tripod and I... did a few of my usual things (Peoplemover fisheyes, Tomorrowland palm trees) and a few new ones. Chowed on a cinnamon roll. Oh yeah, and we did catch Osborne lights last night, too. Just like in 2007, it seems odd to shoot it with anything except a fisheye, but I did try some other lenses to get a different look since fisheye Osborne shots are almost getting cliched already! A grand total of 979 shots/videos yesterday, 23.9 gigs.

Today, Epcot all day!

Having spent the last 24+ hours in bed with the stomach bug, I can't wait to see some of your pics! It will be a welcomed distraction!

I had a bad 24-hour bug just 2-3 weeks ago - was very unpleasant, but fortunately didn't last long. Hope you're feeling better!

OK, a few shots... as said before, these are completely unedited, right out of Lightroom, not even sure of its settings, and I'm viewing on a laptop screen so can't judge color very well.

There was some wedding photography going on at Grand Floridan...

I love the second one, looking over Brer Rabbit towards the Briar Patch! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

BTW, I like all your photos Groucho - this one just stood out to me when I saw it. Hope you're having a great time!

I'm sure that you have told everyone how you waterproof your camera, but I must have missed that! I think this shot is wonderful, along with the rest as well:cool1:

You are just making me jealous.... I hope you have a wonderful time and can't wait to see your updates.

You know .... just when I think I'm all set and happy with my lenses......... you go and post more of your awesome fisheye shots..........

AWESOME Splash Mountain shot! And yes your weathersealing is something I'm jealous of too. Somehow that big plastic bag with a hole in the end just doesn't seem quite the same........

I was sad that we didn't get to do Splash on our last trip. Just too cold and my daughter was traveling with a wimp...... her mother.....

Hopping on board. Looking forward to your blow-by-blow review of the new K-5 (so I can live vicariously through you while I lament having only a K-7). ;)

I'll come along for the ride. Can't wait to see where you take us next!

Just checking in real quick. Spent the morning at DHS, ate at '50s Prime Time (love it!), and have stopped back at the hotel real quick to check out the water play area, then off to Downtown Disney for Earl of Sandwich and maybe Ghiradelli's. What a hard life. :teeth:

I have a few more pics that I had ready but didn't post yet, from day 2. (Day 1 being the lost travel day!)

For patiently answering all my questions Groucho!

I am always fascinated with what good photographers carry in their bags (and pin on the outside as well!)

I too carry two cameras (bad pun?) and swap back and forth but one is a PnS and I often hand that one over to DH to take pics. This also ensure that yours truly occasionally gets in the photo albums :thumbsup2

Your kids are really growing up! Can't wait to see them enjoy MK!

This is wedding photographer beautiful!

Jack is very intimidating with his toy sword.

My favorite of the first four!

Enjoying the photos and trip report Groucho!

I'm headed to a conference in FL and will be at WDW late Thursday and Friday. If I see a very new Pentax with you attached to it I'll say hi!

Thanks all; I'll respond more specifically later, I'm just waiting about 2 minutes for a copy to finish before going to bed.

How about some more pictures from AKL/Villas? :goodvibes
Funnily enough, I just spend well over an hour walking about Kidani Village with a tripod taking photos. I wanted to get some before they take down the Christmas decorations. So, I will have some hopefully decent AKL photos. :teeth:

We'll see how bleary we are on Friday; we're all getting up very early to support Mrs Groucho running the 5k that morning... and the kids running their races later that morning. My "official" plans are MK after that they maybe EMH at Epcot 'til midnight, but I may drop before then! :)

Back to the trip report....
Day 3 was Epcot. It was pretty much a Future World day. We stopped in, watched the Jammitors perform, and grabbed Soarin' fastpasses, then ate breakfast at Sunshine Seasons (the big eatery in The Land.) I'm usually pretty content with what I get there but it's never really blown me away. Did a quick ride on Living With the Land then ran over to Mouse Gear to use a 20% coupon that they'd been printing at the bottom of some receipts. Mrs Groucho grabbed a Minnie sweatshirt, I grabbed an old-style Epcot shirt that I probably should have skipped (very expensive and the Mrs doesn't particularly like it) but the coupon expired at 12pm, it was 11:59, and I said what the heck. Off to Test Track, Universe of Energy, and The Seas, then back to Sunshine Seasons, grab lunch/dinner, and then over to the Imagination pavilion. This place is almost less fun than Wonders of Life, and I mean now, when it's been closed for years. The ride is banal (despite being a huge Monty Python fan and having no particular aversion to Figment), despite a rather good ride system, and this is another of those infuriating ones that blows stink at you. Sorry, I don't think skunk smell is all that hilarious. Now that Kodak has pulled sponsorship, the majority of the post-show area is walled off. Yet, they still have those great water features. We didn't try to see Captain Eo - I think it was closed at this point, but even so, I'm not going to make much effort to see it. If we stumble on it, sure; but I just am not real interested, just like I wasn't back when it was new.

Next, off to Spaceship Earth, then to Mexico for Gran Fiesta Tour. For some reason, Jack loves this, despite me calling it the "cheeseball" ride last trip, and now he sometimes calls it that. Then, Illuminations and back to our hotel.

A couple other notes:
Line-cutting seems to be the new "flash on dark rides." I saw some truly epic line-cutting at Splash Mt on day 2 (lots of people doing it, and often multiple people, sometimes big groups) "catching up" with family/friends. At Toy Story Mania yesterday, a group of about eight people pushed their way through. Grrrr!

Speaking of lines, everyone seems very distracted now. Seems like half the people are playing video games or texting. I almost got a shot of one family near me in one queue, with the son playing a PSP, the daughter a DS, and one or both parents banging away at their cell phones. Disney might was well start tearing out the preshow and queue theming and use the space for cell repeaters, wifi hotspots, and induction chargers.

Here's a shot I forgot to post from the last group... yumminess at F1.2. :thumbsup2

Now here's a few shots from day 3, at Epcot. This was some sort of apple pastry from Sunshine Seasons, which was unbelievably dense (even the forks could barely penetrate it.) Interesting but I'll probably skip it next time.

WDW2011temp-17.jpg

I like these little wingnuts in Mouse Gear, but this one has met with an accident!

WDW2011temp-18.jpg

Jack loves Test Track.

WDW2011temp-19.jpg

I did a bunch of these; this'll probably benefit some from post-processing, but I thought it was an interesting angle that I hadn't seen before.

WDW2011temp-20.jpg

This was a quick point-n-shoot but the sky looked pretty interesting in it.

WDW2011temp-21.jpg

I've got a few more ready but I'll save those for the next update. ;)
