Okay, I have read the guidelines and I now that you are allowed to take in your carry-on luggage as many bottles that are 3 oz or less as long as they fit in a quart size baggie. My question is, what about something that you normally carry in your regular purse and you do not have a "carry-on" bag. Do I have to put my little bottle of lotion I always carry in my purse in a baggie? I just don't want to see my travel size bottle of Vanilla Bean Noel thrown away because I didn't have it in a baggie.

ANY liquid or gel must be in a baggie - ANY

If you choose to keep it in your purse, it will most likely be tossed

Best to follow the rule

Quart size baggies have been given magical qualities by Harry Potter. If you have even ONE item it must be displayed in the quart size baggie or you may lose it. (I say may because my 1 oz hand lotion routinely seems to be missed by the eagle eyed TSA)

Thanks for the responses. I just happened to think tonight that I am probably not going to have a carry on bag, but that I have my favorite bottle of lotion in my purse that I would just hate to have thrown away and wanted to get opinions. The TSA site actually just mentions carryon luggage and not specifically personal items such as a purse.

your purse IS your carry on item - you will be carrying it onto the plane

You're thinking too hard about it ;)

I totally forgot about my mascara that I had in my purse. Guess what the lovely TSA took great delight in tossing into the trash? Ever try to buy makeup in WDW? Nobody sells it!!
