We are also just back from a Sept 15-23 stay at the Poly, but didn't knowingly cross paths with any other DISers there. I had put a LGMH magnet on our door frame but it disappeared 2/3s of the way through our trip. We were originally assigned to a room in Tuvalu, but after taking a red-eye (hooray for a brand new non-stop!) and arriving at the resort at 6 a.m. (we were the only ones at the ME desk and on our bus), checking in at 7 a.m. we happily changed to one immediately available in Rapa Nui, where I had been on my only other Poly stay. We liked being close to the TTC, and while most people want to avoid the parking lot view, my husband loved being able to see the monorail go by from our room. We had friends with a car staying at CBR and they could pick us up right in front of the building, so this turned out to be a great location for us. The double sinks were especially nice for our family of 2 fifty somethings and 2 twenty somethings. The room was clean and in good repair. Mousekeeping was fine, and timely. They were doing some renovating on the 1st floor, we were on the 3rd, but we only heard construction noise for a very short period on our first day there. Captain Cook's while busy was never too crowded to find an inside table, and we had breakfast there most days. The CMs were warm and friendly and the front desk welcoming, neither of which was particularly true on my previous visit in Oct 2004. We loved seeing the MNSSHP fireworks from the beach - spectacular! We got into Kona twice without an ADR, with waits of about 10 mins, not bad during free dining. The food there was, as usual, wonderful. All the transportation was great. We had great luck with busses to the Studios, AK , BB and DD, never waiting more than a few minutes either going or returning, sometimes to the Poly, others to the TTC. We used the quiet pool rather than the volcano pool, and for exactly that reason - it was quiet. We rarely heard any noise from other guests while in our room, but heard some funny things through doors while walking down the hall (lots of little voices singing and one dismayed dad asking "What did you get in your hair!?"). Overall, it was a fabulous stay. Hopefully, we'll walk under moonlit skies past the tiki torches again some day.

Here's a very short music video with a couple of Poly shots:
