Thursday, January 20th was our last full day at WDW. We decided to go back to AK since DD had missed most of it thanks to her little(?) hissy fit several days before. Today she was well rested and raring to go.
First we hit Camp Mickey Minnie, which DH and I had never been to. DD got to meet, hug and kiss Mickey, Minnie and Goofy. Then we went to FOTLK. DD was entranced. Lion King is one of her favorite movies and here were the characters right in front of her. And we sat in the "Lion" section so we got to roar, which she loved. Towards the end the noise got a bit much and she did huddle in my lap - but when I put my hands over her ears, she was fine. Outside I found my stroller and DH went off on a potty break. There was a gentleman settling his son down in their stroller right next to ours. He was wearing a Naval Academy sweatshirt and I was about to say something about it, when he turned around, looked at DD, and asked if she were adopted. I said yes and he started asking a million questions. He and his wife had just handed in their documents to be sent to China. We talked for about 20 minutes and could have gone on, except that the kidlets were getting restless.
Next we did the Asia walk. It had finally warmed up to wear we could wear just t-shirts and the walk was quite nice. DD loves bats and was thrilled to see all the bats. She still asked where the bats went. The tigers were also a bit hit. They weren't doing much - just lying there. I managed to render a CM somewhat speechless when I mentioned that a few years before I had played with a tiget cub and a young lioness. (A friend of a friend has a lioness, 2 cougars and a tiger that he and his wife use in there magic act and also for commercials. A few years ago I was visiting and we spent a lovely afternoon at their house playing with Chucky, their 4 month old tiger cub and Sheba, their almost 2 year old lioness. We couldn't play with the cougars because they had just been on a commercial shoot and were a bit restless.)
After the walk we went to the chicken restaurant that's right at the entrance to Kali River Rapids and had a wonderful lunch. DD loved their chicken noodle soup - the broth was to die for it was so good. I had the Thai beef salad and liked the spicing very much. DH had the stir fry and said it was quite good.
On to Dinoland USA where DD and I rode Triceratops spin. She enjoyed it. Then I got to ride Dinosaur while DH took care of DD. By the time I got off, DD had drooped. So we went back to the Poly. She napped some but it was clear we were not going to have a happy camper for anything other than dinner in the room - so we gave up our PS at Kona and ordered room service. DH and I had the club sandwiches. He loved his, but I'm afraid that while I like whole grain breads, for a club, I want white toast. Oh well. DD had more chicken noodle soup, although not as good as at AK, and a hot dog. We watched the fireworks over the castle and DH got some good photos. After the Electric Light Parage, DD took herself off to bed - something that happens only rarely. As she settled down to sleep, she huged her "Titch" (Stitch) doll in one arm and her Nemo in the other. Disneyfied? Nah.
DH and I stayed up a bit to enjoy our last night at the World and to plan our next trip - August, 2006 - or so I thought.
It turns out that my godson is getting married May 21 in Melbourne. I will attend with DD. DH is staying far away since said godson is the son of my best friend - the one who thinks laws protecting the mannatees are silly and it would be cheaper to import them from South America - and he has told me that if he hears that again he will not be responsible for his response. Anyway, we decided that since the wedding will be difficult on me (for a variety of reasons) I should go to the World and decompress for a day or so. I'm thinking CBR.
