How funny. I tried to post my question on a techy board but I thought let me use the DIS -I figured I would get a faster response! I see someone else had the same idea.

Here's my question;I am planning on buying a 30GB iPod. I was going to get the AV kit but have seen mixed reviews. Some recommend the DLO Homedock instead :confused3 . Any advice would be appreciated.

Also, do you think it is worth spending the extra $100.00 for the 60GB version?

On the second question, twice the memory for $100. Go for it! Who know what content is going to be offered in the next few years, movies, videos, tv shows. The extra room will be filled.

That's what I was thinking--what if something comes along and I regret not getting the extra memory.

Go for the 60gb, you won't regret it.

My DH bought me the 30gb for Christmas and I love it. He also bought me the docking kit. I wondered why-then he explained that we can watch the podcasts on our tv-it's got an svideo hookup. All the music on my iPod (except 2 songs from iTunes) is from our collection.

I got him Sirius for christmas, so he hasn't been asking for the iPod.

Youngest son(6) wants an iPod of his own :rotfl2: ,but I can't justify 100 bucks for a shuffle when I could get so much more for 300. That said, I am NOT spending that kind of money on an iPod for a 6yo. :teeth:

Suzanne/Poohnatic- Which docking station did you get? And it came with the svideo hookup?

Will someone please explain to this iPod newbie what a docking station is? Thanks!

O.k.--I am going to try to get the 60GB iPod and the extra warranty but I still have questions on whether or not to get the apple docking station or another brand......

But what does a docking station do?

The docking station is to plug your iPod into your stereo. The cable that comes with it is USB into their proprietary plug (looks like a parallel port connector, but much smaller). You *could* line out using the headphone jack, but that's not advisible.

I believe someone did post the link to it. I honestly haven't used mine and didn't see the need for it, but I do have several podcasts that I watch, so it'll be nice to use the svideo to plug directly into the tv and watch Diggnation or whatever else on a 32" screen as opposed to the iPod screen. That said, it is rather nice to sit in a doctor's waiting room and have something to watch!

What is svideo- is it the cord to plug your iPod into your tv so you can watch videos on tv? If so, you can just use your black cable (can't remember the name of it) that has a red, yellow, and white plug. Switch the yellow and red around and it'll work. No need to buy a special cord to view videos on tv. Apple was tricky on that one and I'm not too happy about that (and I' a huge Apple fan)
