So my friends and I decide to see the new Will Farrell movie, Blades of Glory this afternoon to take a break from school work (it was funny but not great).

A family sat behind us with a 14 month old. Of course for the first ten minutes he was fine. Then started with the "mama" all they did was "shhhh" him and so on. A half an hour into it he started to whimper. Still they just sat there. 45 minutes into the movie he would scream a few seconds at a time. We all kept turning around and shushing them hoping they would get the message and take him out.

They didn't take him out until an hour into the movie!!!!! :scared1: By that time he was crying and wouldn't stop (they tried for 4-5 minutes though!).

Ok, I know that parents with toddlers should get to take their older children to the movies too. And I understand that it was a 12:45pm movie BUT I don't understand how the parent thought that a 14 month old would be able to sit through a 2 hour pg-13 movie without disrupting the rest of us who paid good money for our tickets too :confused3

(Yes, I know his age because they were in front of us at the ticket booth and didn't pay for him)

Very rude. In all honesty I'm surprised you didn't find a manager or usher to ask to have them removed after the first fifteen minutes. You pay good money to see a movie, you should be able to do so without that type of disturbance.

I think the theatres that are offering discounted mid-week matinees to moms with infants and toddlers in tow, as well as the ones who are simply putting an age restriction on all but "G" rated movies after a certain time are really onto something! :thumbsup2

This would bother me as well. My neighbor does it all the time, and I can't even imagine what she is thinking when she does, obviously not of the other patrons. My goodness!
With what it costs to go to the movies, you wouldn't expect for a screaming child to ruin the experience.

This is one of the reasons I only go to the Alamo Drafthouse... Kids under 6 are not allowed at any movies that aren't rated G. And if anyone is being obnoxious, it's easy to flag a waiter down (they serve food in the theater) inconspicuously. They do not allow disruptive behavior in the theater. They will ask you to leave.

That is way too young to be expected to behave through a movie. If I need to take my older son to a movie I make arrangements for DH or someone else to watch my younger son. DS4 even at this age can only handle sitting through certain movies, cerainly not a PG13 one. We take advantage of the free movies for kids that are offered during the summer to get him used to sitting in a movie theater so long and then it usually all kids anyway.

We got real lucky and have a very quiet baby. Now that hes 7 tho he talks during the boring movies. We are working on that.
