acorn.

I say a-corn. My SO says acern. I say I'm right.;) He says he believes I'm not really southern. He says I mispronounce acorn, white, either/neither, and so many different words. I say he misprounces them and so many more.;)

I say it a-corn too. (that's a long a, btw)

It depends. If I'm gathering acorns, they are akerns, if I'm say "big trees from little acorns grow" then it's a-corns.

Weird, huh?

i say ay-corn...I've never heard any other pronunciations of it.

I'm with wagamama, AY-CORN, that is the only way or should I say the right way. LOL :teeth:

a-corn... I've never heard it any other way as well.

A-corn. That may set me apart from true Southerners, but I'm okay with that. :)

I've only heard it as "a-corn".

It's weird with the either/niether thing. I go back & forth between the pronounciations, but I mostly pronounce either as"E-thur" & the opposite with niether being "Nye-thur"

And white is "why-t", not "wah-t", "wot" or "hu-why-t"

Well this brings up pe-cans or pecons(pecans) I say both

I always say "p'cons", saying "pee-can" is a surefire giveaway that you're from the north.

So is saying "Care-uh-mel", everyone knows it's "Car-mull" :)

Definitely Pee-kahn (as in Madeline Kahn or Kirk's nemesis in ST2)

I have heard and used A-corn and ache-urn. One of those interchangeable thangs, I reckon....

I use A-corn a lot more though
