I know its early, but I have a question about this....

The last thread I could find on here was from 2009, so I was just wondering if there was any more feed back out there...

We'll be in Orlando for four full days (Oct. 11-14) and definitely doing HHN at least two nights. I was just wondering if anyone out there goes to HOS while in Orlando for HHN and what their experience has been.

I'm reading such mixed reviews about HOS, I'm not sure it will be worth it. I also heard the rides are open during HOS which may be fun but overwhelming if we're trying to pack everything into one night. I do know about Fright Feast, which sounds like a good idea since that seems to be the only way to be sure to see all of the houses....

Thanks for any planning tips!!!

Yikes!!! :scared1: And you live so close!!! Hope I can fit it in (I mean if it's worth it) in four days!!!

For me it's the drive and extra money for tickets, gas, food, etc. that keeps me away from HOS. I'm very happy with HHN but would like to see HOS at some point.

I've done HOS several times,I don't go every single year like I do to HHN which I've gone like 18 of the 21 years but have enjoyed HOS every time I've gone.Busch Gardens is a bigger park so more walking is involved, they also have scare zones and shows just like HHN.I know on some of the years I've done HOS I've found the houses on par or even better than HHN,however they might reuse some of the same houses and themes on consecutive years, unlike HHN where just about every house is new every year.I think it's definitely worth it.Having annual passes you will never catch me riding any rides at HOS or HHN since I can ride them any other time and I will also never pay for an express pass or Quick Queue pass to do the houses as I also avoid Fridays and Saturdays like the plague. As far as line wait times since I usually go on non peak dates I find HHN to definitely have longer waits and crowds,HOS is more likely to have walk on house waits towards the end of the night but you could also get some long waits during the peak hours.

:thumbsup2 I know, we love HHN so much that's why I'm still not sure it's worth the extra everything... It will take quite a bit more planning and saving on our part if we decide to go!

Thanks, I appreciate the input!

Just a couple of more questions if you don't mind...

If we had to go on a Fri/Sat night, do you think Fright Feast is worth the extra price? Also, is the Alone House (I'm not sure if that's what it's called) is worth it as I know it costs more as well?

Since you have an AP, I'm not sure if you'll know this but would I be able to purchase tix on line and pick them up the same day? Is there a kiosk outside the park to get the tix? Just wondering because I don't want to be locked into a certain day by purchasing tix too early... The weather was pretty bad some days last year and even though I know the show still goes on, I don't want to be at HOS in the rain...

Thanks again!!!

I know on the years I've gone we didn't do the Fright Feast but were held in the Timbuktu area of the park by the Desert Grill where the Fright Feast was held before HOS opens.I remember the people who did Fright Feast get to see one of the shows as they ate, that right there would save you time by not having to do this show during the night.I'm not sure what other benefits Fright Feast has since I've never done it.Never done the Alone house but I know it's expensive but I think you get a t shirt if you make it out without asking for help,is the price worth it,I can't tell you.As far as buying the tickets online I would call and ask to make sure.I have an AP but HOS is a hard ticket event so I still have to purchase the tickets, the only exception is since I have the Platinum pass I do get in free the first two nights called the Freaky preview nights which I have taken advantage of several times, the other times I bought tickets for HOS I think I bought them online and printed them right on my printer, maybe once I bought them at the park during the day of the event.I know I went one year where they had to close an hour earlier because a hurricane was coming, aside from some strong gusts during the event we luckily didn't get any rain.

Thanks, Doom! From what I can tell the Fright Feast allows you to have FOTL access to the houses for an hour to an hour and a half at the beginning of the night. I've read that the food has been good in the past, but last year it had gone down hill. As for the shows, we don't really care about seeing any of them. The FOTL seems like a good idea because we don't want to stay all night trying to get into the houses. Even if we could only get into most of the houses in that hour, I feel like it would be worth it since we only have one night there and it would be a Fri. or Sat. I keep forgetting about printing my tix since I've been using the kiosk at US but I'll keep that in mind. I'm sure I can print them from the hotel when we get there... I think we'll try to go ahead and budget for HOS this year!!!

Don't know about HoS but I've finally decided to add to this year's HHN trip (finally)!

I've always wanted to go to HOS but have not made it yet. :rolleyes1

You've been saying that for a while now... SOME..DAY... ;)
If you won't make it this year, I'll let you know how it is.

Agree'. I'm doing one night at HoS with Fright Feast. I might even book at tour since it is much cheaper than HHN and I don't know the park yet (haven't been to BGT since 1988)!

Cheers!

Marquibiri~ Any idea when you're going? I'd really love to read an honest review before I go, so I'm looking forward to you posting your thoughts on the event if you make it before me! It seems like a lot of people are either in one corner or the other...

I don't know the park either and I've heard there is more walking than at US... more like when HHN was held in IOA. I wasn't there but doesn't seem as compact.

And also really looking forward to the "Alone" house!!! :scared1:

Can't wait!!! :woohoo:

Islands of Adventure is actually smaller than Universal,Universal is 125 acres and Islands of Adventure is 110 acres. There were some years Universal had a Festival of the Dead parade which you could never do at Islands of Adventure with the narrow paths.Busch Gardens on the other hand is bigger than both of them combined at 335 acres, obviously some of that is for the animals but even then it has to be well over 200 acres for guest areas.

I thought when I looked at the map for BG, it looked huge... but I wasn't sure what area they used for HOS. Another forum had a couple of posts that compared HOS to HHN when it was held in IOA, not just for size but other elements as well. Even without knowing the park, it seems like Fright Feast makes doing all the houses at least once a possibillity in and hour and a half but only if you keep moving.

Aside from HHN though, it sounds like BG may be a cool place to visit on one of our trips. I remember my grandparents taking me there when I was a kid. Me and my brother have pics of us holding birds. I don't remember that much of the park, except a few rides and somewhere that we ate, but I'm sure a lot has changed since then!!!

Either way, we better gear up for more walking!!! :thumbsup2'

I'll be going the last weekend of September. Las year I did a live trip report but failed miserably towards the end. :lmao:

Too much :drinking1 and too little sleep made me want to :faint:

I never did finish that TR... :sad1:

I really want to do the Alone house by myself. I'll make sure to take along an extra pair of boxer shorts.... just in case I wet my pants! :scared1: :goodvibes

Cheers!

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Definitely looking forward to hearing about your experience!! I'll be in the "Alone" house with two teen-age girls, which seems to enhance every scare... if I'm not laughing at them!!! Last year we got lucky enough to go through two houses at HHN completely by ourselves and it was awesome!!! All scares aimed at us and they tortured my daughters!!!
