Didn't want to hijack the other thread!

Our GSD is almost 4 and is completely a "daddy's girl".

At night, he will lay on the floor to watch TV.

She will come up next to him and then SIT on his chest.

Does this mean something????? It has baffled us for a long time!

She'll sit on him for a minute, then lay down against him.

I would love to know what she is saying when she does it!

When u say "sit on him" do u literally mean with her hindquarters? I've never heard of that. My GSD has been known to come up and put her front paws and body on someone while they are laying, but never actually sit.

If anything I think its just a way for her to be closer to him.

My baby will be 4 on the 28th. She is a total mommy's girl. :cutie:

Mine will "sit" on the couch. Really, hind legs on the cushions, front paws on the floor. He looks so funny when he does it.

He does like to roll up in a ball & lay right up against us, too.

He is a total momma's boy.

Yes - she sits on him like she's sitting on the floor - we wonder if she remembers sitting in his lap as a baby and still wants to!

I have Mastiffs and my female does this every night when my husband lays on the floor. My male lays on the couch and watches them.:lmao: When she was little she got up in his lap too! She still will try when allowed. So sweet. They don't know their size. I have no idea what it means. My husband seems to think she wants the attention over the TV.

I think she is just reminding him who is top dog... (hint: it ain't him!)

My 2yo 80lb goldendoodle does things like this - lays literally on top of us. I really think he just doesn't know his size/weight. He's definitely not the 'top dog' in the house (so I know he's not trying to show that). The top dog is my dh, then me, then our kids, then our 4yo GSD, then the goldendoodle. He just thinks he's a baby lapdog. He actually lays on me and rolls on his back for me to scratch his belly - it gets quite uncomfortable, but I don't have the heart to make him get off - he's such an 80lb ball of fluff! And in all fairness to him, I carried him A LOT when he was little - he was just so cute I couldn't put him down. I think he misses that. My GSD more seems to understand to lay "next" to us, not "on top". The GSD will lay right next to me, and just put his head in my lap. My goldendoodle will also try to sit on my lap when I'm sitting on the couch - it's really just not possible, but he tries.
