THis might be a new one!

We are staying at Hard Rock Hotel but on our last day will have to leave around noon for the airport - :sad2:

I know we will have FOTL access on that day, my question is this - do they have id on them, such as photo / fingerprint etc? We will happily give them away to a lucky family if we can, (there are 5 of us)

BTW this will be Columbus Day, October 10, I believe they will be quite valuable on a crowded day. (not looking for cash, just karma ), nor offers we will give them at the park on the day.

Last time I was there, there was no photo. You can probably do this -- but if you can't I'm sure someone else will set me straight.

The express passes for onsite guests are their room keys, and all I recall on them is a name. So unless some big burly dude has to pass as a "Tiffany", they'd probably be okay.

There are two things here that I would be worried about. First is if you have a car you will need the key to get out of the parking lot. That is how they make sure you are truthful about paying for parking during your stay. Second would be if you have any charging privileges on the key. If you do, I wouldn't want to chance someone trying to use it after you check out and then you later getting a bill for it.

Now why did you have to go and spoil it for them? ;)

Seriously, though, those are excellent points....

I think charging privileges expire with checkout, but that's something you should double-check.

As for the parking, you could just keep one card and give out the rest.

You would also need at least one key to get back into your room unless you stored your luggage before you went to the park. Although I love the idea of doing something nice, just the fact that it had my whole name and room # on it would kind of freak me out.

Oooh thats scary :scared1:- wouldnt that be mean of someone who I had given a generous gift - to rip me off by charging to our room. :sad2:

We wont have a car so that is not an issue and we will be checked out I guess at around 10:00, we will leave our luggage in reception (I will check on charging privilages after checkout though!)

It just seems a waste for no one to use them - we probably wont even head to the parks that day, we will have Fri / Sat / Sun at the parks so will use Monday morning for relaxing - we have a loooong trip home.!

As nice as it would be, it is against the rules. I would hate for them to cancel the privilege for everyone because some people are giving away their room keys. I always appreciate how nice and small the express lines are. I appreciate if everyone only uses them for their own use as petty as that seems.

I doubt it's a widespread problem. I'd say go for it.

Universal offers FOTL as a perk to entice people to stay onsite at their hotels, and they charge top dollar for the "privilege." They won't take it way because an occasional guest shared his card.

I have considered not staying at HRH that night and relocating somewhere cheaper for our last night, as I know we are paying heavily for FOTL benefits - but can not be bothered really.

We will be doing HHN on Sunday night so will appreciate staying somewhere so close after a late night.

Will make a decision on donating cards at the time. :confused3

When they start reading about it on message boards, they might, lol.

I often stay at universal for about $140/night. Hardly top dollar. Would hate to see things change like they implemented the fingerprinting system so you couldn't share your tickets.

That is absolutely top dollar compared to the Universal "partner" hotels.

So Damo what are you saying its OK to share tickets but not give them away! :confused3

Lets just say I want to "share" our tickets - its just that we will be 20,000ft in the air when our "friends" are using them!

I didn't say it was okay to share. I said that Disney and Universal implemented the fingerprint system to stop people from sharing park entrance tickets. Obviously they didn't like it and found a way to stop it. Giving away your room keys gives the bearer the right to use them for fotl lines, access to the pools at the hotels, parking access, access to the exercise facilities if your loews status allows, charging privileges and I don't know what else. I know that the hotels and parks frown upon doing that. Right now it is done on an honour system but if it becomes widespread I would imagine that the parks and hotels will find a way to either do away with it or find a way to stop people from doing it.

I don't know how long it is after you check out that your charging privileges stop. It would be hard to refute charges on your card made because you gave them away to a stranger.

This question comes up every few months and the thread always gets closed because it is against forum rules to discuss ways to break park and hotel rules. This one will be closed shortly, I am sure.

:thumbsup2 I agree.

I am also thinking they charge you like 20-50 bucks or something if you don't turn in your room keys, this may have changed, but pretty sure this was the case last time I was there.
