another flight question - arrive at LAX 11AM or 12PM or at SNA 1PM?

Hi All,

One last question about flights.....My options are to fly into LAX at 11 AM (6.5 hr direct flight), LAX at 12 PM (connecting flight), or SNA at 1PM (again non-direct).

Is there a rush hour at lunch time in LA that would greatly increase the commute time to Disney?

I've never taken a 6 and a half hour flight - 4 has been my upper limit. I'm not sure I want to! Anyone have a preference in that regard? The connecting flights for the non-direct options are 2 flights each 3-4 hours long (so more time actually crunched into the airplane seat!).

Thanks for any advice.

The thing about LA traffic is that there can be a rush hour pretty much any time. I would almost certainly fly into SNA under any circumstance.

I would take the direct flight. I understand it is long but, you don't have to deal with a layover and reboarding. The main thing is it halves your chances of being delayed or flat out missing a flight.

Where you land will have little difference because you should be down and out of the airport before rush hour anyway.

Another thing to consider is if you are renting a car. At LAX it will involve a waiting for a shuttle, at SNA most rental places are onsite.

How are you getting from the airport to the resort?

Depending on how you're getting there, you might land at 11 but not get to the resort until 1ish anyway....which then makes the SNA flight sound better, but then you're connecting which puts a higher chance of delays etc into the mix.

I personally like LAX (not that I do not like SNA...I like SNA just fine, but I don't have the disdain for LAX that others do) and don't mind flying in there, especially if it's direct!

Thanks!

I think I'm going to risk hitting traffic and fly direct into LAX. It's a really good point about the chance of missing the connection or being delayed - I'm flying out of Boston Logan and it happens a lot!! I'd be really bummed if my time at Disney was cut short due to that.

I'll be taking one of the shuttle (shared van) services to the DLH. Hopefully this will be faster than renting a car - I really don't want it to take hours to get to the resort. Does anyone have any experience with how long it usually takes?

Any ideas for coping with the long flight? I get sooo uncomfortable in airplane seats. Maybe I'll just get little sleep the night before.....

Ive always found not sleeping the night before and getting a window seat so you can put your head against the hull is the best way to sleep on a flight.

Now 6.5 hours is not a long flight! ;)We fly 12 to get to LA...but then internal airlines offer a lot less in the way of services. I would give the reverse advice to the OP...sleep well before you get on, take a couple of good books, some kind of DVd player and something to eat. And you have definitely made the right decision to take a non stop flight.

Enjoy your trip!

I always vote for the non-stop flights, but that is because DH and I almost always divorce if we have to do a connecting flight.
