I received an email today from a "friend" on Facebook. I rarely use Facebook and the person is someone I don't really keep contact with, an old friend from hs. I opened the email & it said to check out the funny video, of which there were two. I should have known since this person doesn't email me and last week, a relative's email was hacked into, but I went ahead and opened the attachment. I know, dumb me.

It brought me to Facebook logon, which I did. Then it went to some foreign person's website (Greek or Russian I think). Anyway, does anyone know what might happen, did they get my FB login info & what can they do with that? Luckily, our computer seems to be okay from last weeks hacking. Guess I really have to watch what I open.

I don't know for sure what could happen, but they could use your account to phish for others' information. If you haven't already you should go right now and change your password.

Ok, thanks, just did it. You did mean to FB not my email acct, right?

Yes, Facebook. (Sorry, should have specified.) Now that you've changed it, they shouldn't be able to get in to your account. I'd run a virus scan just in case, since you clicked on something, but it's probably fine.

ETA - If you do happen to use the same password for your email that you used for Facebook, it would be a good idea to change that one as well.

Change your passwords for other things too because you probably use the same password so it will be easy to other information about you.

:thumbsup2 Thanks again. Used different pw, now instead of 437 pw's to remember between work & home, I now have 438.

Thanks, Schmitty.
