O.K. ..... I hope I can write this question so you will understand what I am even asking:goodvibes

If I have a fastpass return time of...let's say 2 pm when can I expect the next fastpass window will start....2:15.... 2:30???

For example.... if I arrive and at 1:55 to ride for my 2pm window there will probably be a line of other people doing exactly the same thing. If I arrive 15 min later I would assume the rush for my arrival time would have gone through and the line will have decreased somewhat.... but am I going to run into the next group waiting for there window to open???

Also.... this will help when pulling fastpasses so they don't conflict with adr's. If I send our runner to get some fastpasses and the return time is within our dining ressie I might tell him to hang around until the next posted return time comes up if it is ...say ...1/2 hour later but if they are every 10 minutes this would be unreasonable.

My kids like to ride their favorites a lot so we are trying to maximize our time.... :thumbsup2

As the PP posted its 5 minute increments.

In the situation above, the return time window could move quickly if there are a ton of people getting FP's or not really at all if there are only a few.

Yep, return windows are in five minute blocks. We have several times pulled passes for the whole family that spanned two blocks (return times of 1:00 and 1:05 or similar).

Also note the following:

The general rule of thumb is that you can obtain a new fastpass once your current pass becomes valid, or two hours from now - whichever comes first.

Example: pull a fastpass at 10:15 for an 11:30 return... get a new fastpass at 11:30.

Example: pull a fastpass at 11:00 for a 3:45 return... get a new fastpass at 1:00 PM.

This is a rule of thumb; Disney may deviate slightly in a given circumstance.

Note: this post edited to remove my outdated reference to the five minute wait period.

1. If your return window opens at 2:00 then you can get a new fastpass at that time (ish) (Or 2 hours after you pulled that fastpass, whichever is earlier- eg: if you pulled that first FP at 10:00, you could get a new one at 12:00).

2. Odds are if there is a crowd waiting for their window to open up at 1:55 there'll still be a crowd waiting for THEIR window to open up at 2:10.

3. Your runner could be waiting around for quite some time. Better to just come back later.

Not that it matters much, but-

I believe that it would be more correct to say (in your first example)-

Example: pull a fastpass at 10:15 for an 11:30 return... get a new fastpass at 11:30.

The "extra" 5 minutes after your current return time is no longer in the mix, AFAIK.

~See, this just seems so silly to me. Not your question, OP, it is a legitimate question when trying to utilize the current FastPass system. It's just the fact that you even have to ask something like this. :goodvibes

~This is why I am so excited about xPass, I am hopeful that it will help to alleviate silly issues, like having to wait until some unforeseen time before you can pull another FastPass, then wash, rinse and repeat -- over and over until it's time to go bye-bye. I know some people are just fine with this, but I can't wait for more options that will accommodate my park touring style needs.

Others are not so excited... I hope you're right, though.

As long as the xpass (or whatever it will be called) does lead to more flexibility, I agree with you 100%.

I worry that it will be more like ADRs; with that situation, you have to not only know six months out where you will be at dinner time on a given day, you have to choose what sort of food your family will be in the mood for.

I understand that restaurant reservations are a different animal to an extent, but I do worry that xpass will lead to you being chained to a given touring plan. Hopefully, that won't be the case.

It would really stink if the question for TSM ended up being the same as this exchange I heard at Le Cellier in October:

Uninformed vacationer: "So, how long is the wait?"
Le Cellier hostess, deadpan delivery: "One hundred and eighty days, sir."

Fastpass is an outstanding system, warts and all... especially when compared to the front of the line passes that other parks issue. I hate to see something fixed that isn't actually broken. Then again, Disney is known for innovation, so they may just blow us all away with the new method.

~Of course, I'm right *crosses fingers*, lol. Basically, when "others" have a very weak argument, they attack the character of the individual or in my case, that would be "colors" of the actual character letters, lol. Ad Hom is described as an attempt to negate the truth of a claim by pointing out a negative characteristic or belief of the person supporting it. Whenever I am confronted with an opposing viewpoint in such a manner, whatever confidence I have in my position on the matter immediately soars, lol.

~Anyway, I've observed the trends, and once I combined this with the culture of Disney Parks, I came up with a logical and fabulous conclusion, instead the usual "doom and gloom" outlook regarding xPass. I am more than aware that xPass is not a popular concept, but most of the negativity that I've come across (not just on these boards) sounds too extreme, ridiculous and completely made up to me, IMO. So, let's just hope for the best together, I really think xPass is going to be fabulous.

~I agree with you, that Fastpass is an outstanding system, but there is plenty of room for improvement, otherwise park visitors would have never had the desire to utilize FastPass beyond the allocated time window, IMO.

~I really do believe Disney will blow us away with xPass. I cannot buy into the overabundance of negativity toward this. IMO, this is just a system upgrade, much like the FantasyLand expansion. It's still FantansyLand, but better! There are some new elements combined with the old and some new things altogether, but it is all still one and the same, which is FantasyLand.

~Yet, we don't hear anyone claiming that only deluxe guests will have access to Casey Jrs. Splash Pad or that we'll have to pay an upfront fee to ride the Seven Dwarves Mine Train. Why would xPass be any different? I do not see Disney ever deviating Fastpass from an "inclusive" fee based model to an "upfront", (price point) fee based model.

~I just can't help but express my excitement regarding the possibilities of xPass and just how fabulous I think it could be. We'll see!

~Try to look at it this way...

~While, all of the above is fabulous, two pics are clearly dated and the other two pics are modern & new! :goodvibes
