Another fashion question for the women-Waists??

All right, after reading the capri thread, I have a question that always bugs me when I read fashion articles. What does it mean when one says they are "short waisted" or long waisted"? I don't get the term? I have a waist that is very high up-It's almost under my chest, if you get my drift. I call that "high waisted". If I wear the wrong type of pants, the waiste band starts too high up, my husband calls this my "Farmer John" look. I always wish my waist was lower and I had more room for space between it and my ****s...Am I "long waisted" or "short waisted". I think I have a high waist.

I don't know, maybe I'd call that short waisted. My daughter has a long torso so I would say she was long waisted.

To determine if you're long-waisted or short-waisted, measure yourself from the top of your head to your natural waist, and then from your natural waist to the floor (you'll probably need to enlist help to get an accurate measurement).

If you're longer from head to waist than from waist to floor, you're long-waisted, and if the opposite is true, then you're short-waisted. It sounds to me like you're long-waisted, but it's hard to tell without knowing the measurements and what type of pants you've been looking at.

I am definitely short waisted. I am only 5'2" but have long legs.

I'm short waisted. My legs are long for my height and there isn't a lot of space between the bottom of my ribs and my hip bone.

Did you notice if you say the word "waist" often enough the word starts to sound and look weird?

As I get older I think I am heading to being non-waisted.

I am short waisted and I'm only 5'5". It's funny when I buy pants/jeans I have to buy medium to long because if I don't they are too short. My mom and my best friend are the same height but they have to buy short lengths of pants/jeans or have them taken up. My mother is always having to roll up her jeans, it's so funny.
