For those Fantasmic Fans that have seen both performances (WDW and DL) is it worth the extra money to get the Fantasmic Dessert Buffet tickets at DL? If we saw it at WDW is it still a must-do at DL?

We enjoyed the Fantasmic show at MGM in the amphitheatre seats but wouldn't necessarily watch the DL version if it meant standing around without a good view (kids would get restless)!

:wizard: thanks!

I feel both shows are equal. While DL's show exceeds WDW's, the set up IMO, reduces the enjoyment. I have seen MGM's quite a few times, then this summer for the first time saw DL's I really wanted to see it to compare the 2 so we sat on the ground for an hour, with the kids dozing off and getting restless, fighting for our personal space. Not exactly fun. Was it worth it to see the show with a great view once? YES! Would I do that again? I dont know...maybe I'd take my chances of arriving 1/2 hour early and see what we got and if nothing good was available, I'd say we saw it once.

As for the Dessert Buffet, I (without my family) recently got to do this too. I had premium seating, not the balcony. It was definitely awesome, and much better than waiting on the ground, however, I would have a hard time justifying that kind of money for a family of 4...especially when someone is seated directly in front of you and you have to lean around them for the whole show. For 2 people, like if it were me and my husband, I think I would like to try to do this again, but I know it would be a waste for my kids right now(they are 5 & 8).

No matter what you choose, I do think seeing DL's version at least once is worth whatever way you feel is best for you, spending the money or waiting not very comfortably. It really is a great show! Good luck deciding! :wizard:

I'm one who has no problem sitting on the ground at DL waiting for ours. I enjoy watching them set up for the show. I've seen the WDW version and for me, it just doesn't compare to DL's. On future WDW trips, I probably won't bother with Fantasmic there, while I don't mind waiting hours at DL.

I love the Fantasmic Dessert Buffet and we did it twice in the days before we started going to WDW. Now that we go to WDW a couple of times a year we don't even see Disneyland's anymore. I love Disneyland's show because of the Peter Pan/Sailing Ship Columbia sequence and the fact that they use the real riverboat and not a plywood one, but I agree with Camcolt that the setup just kind of ruins it for me now. Generally, when we go to Disneyland we have my elderly father in law with us who just can't stand or sit on the ground for long periods of time. We paid the first time because it was my husband's birthday present and the second time because my father in law wanted to treat us. But after doing it twice I would have to probably win the lotto to justify spending $250 for the five of us to see it on the balcony! Our visits to Disneyland are generally just a few days. If I lived local I would be fine camping out for hours in advance because I would know I can see the parks often enough that I wouldn't feel like I was robbing myself of time riding rides or doing other things. Also, we didn't see Fantasmic in September because we didn't want to risk getting stuck in human traffic and missing a good spot for Remember.

So to the OP, if you are going at an off time of year when you might be able to see it without the long wait that would be great. However, I don't think it is worth $50 a person to see a show that is very similar to the one you saw at MGM. I would rather spend that money on souveneirs or a character meal. I would spend your time and energy getting a good spot for Remember which is unlike any fireworks display at WDW and worth the price of admission IMHO!

We have done the balcony twice. I feel that the experience is worth it. I first time we watched the show there was a lady sitting in front of me with a video camera held up in the air. It was in my view. The second time before I bought the tickets I made sure I would be seated in the first row. Sounds like it will be all family anyway. enjoy.

March out the days on the calander to 30 days prior and start calling like a minute ahead of opening time. In my experience they sell out with in minutes. Maybe stay onsite and have concierge book for you.

Okay, I am on the other side of the fence on Fantasmic. We personally liked the WDW version much better. Plus the idea of sitting prior to the show with better viewing. I would say I am glad I did the buffett once because it was our first ever DL trip and short but I wouldn't stand around for DL fantasmic now that I have seen it. That said, I would stand for the fireworks again. It was a lot more fun from the front of the castle.
