another ecv question

I am renting an ecv this stay and was wondering what to do if it rains? Can I still use it or do I need to find shelter?

If it is pouring yes you will need to find cover. Take a clear plastci bag and cover the controls and a poncho t o cover yourself and you are then good to go.

I would find shelter for pouring rain like Talking Hands stated, but if it is sprinkling you should be ok. You should always try and keep the batteries dry. Most ECV's now have covers over the batteries so you should have no problem.

I'm not sure what Disney does, but each time I have rented from Walker thay have included a a small plastic bag which hangs from the lever that controls the tiller angle. In this bag is a small, clear plastic cover with an elastic band around the rim to go over the control box. With that on you can still work the controls and see the power meter. That is all that is needed. The batteries and everything else are OK. You might wasnt to use a ponco to help keep yourself dry, and also carry a towel to dry off the seat if necessary.

That little plastic covering is actually a shower cap! One time when I called to order an ECV from Walker's Julie asked me to hold a second as she was packaging the shower caps between calls. I now carry a shower cap with me to cover the controls on my power chairwhen it rains or snows.

One of the companies that makes plastic cling wrap for food also makes some bowl covers that look just like shower caps. I bet there is a size of those that would work (and they might be easier to find in stores than a shower cap).

I am leaving on Thursday and amdoing the last of my shopping today. I will pick up an extra poncho and some of the saran wrap plate covers ( I use these all the time at the holidays)
