Another DVC & DDP question

My friends are staying at AKV the week after next and my DD and I will be joining them. They are planning on buying the DDP for their group 4 adults and 3 kids. My DD and I will only be with them for 2 nights and would like to try the DDP also. From what I have heard this will not work.
We cannot be added to the ressie (& DDP) for 2 days. All people staying in the room have to be on the plan for the whole stay.
Has anyone tried to do this?

As others have noted in the past, the DDP is not for everyone. It is required for all guests staying on the reservation for the entire length of the stay.

If you are not staying the entire time, you might not be able to get a room ID and could technically be illegal in the room. Otherwise, they will need to add you from the beginning and someone will have to pay for the dining plan for both of you for the entire time.

Guess I won't be legal then..... I am not paying for the extra days and since I am their guest, I am not going to make them not have the dining plan. It should not be a problem.

You also won't have a room key, or be entitled to use EMH or other "onsite" perks that require a room key.

What your friends (assuming they are members) could do is get you and your daughter a studio for the time that you will be there. Then you could get the DDP, have room keys, and access to other onsite perks.

I am a member also but the reason for making this quick weekend trip was because they had friends cancel on them and they had room.
They have a 2 bedroom and a studio.
We will work it out. I'm not worried about not having a key, we will be with our friends almost all the time.
