I am sure to drive you crazy before I make this purchase. But I want to make sure i get the best, so I go to the best! Okay Best Buy has a deal with an extra 75-300 lens for the XS for $650. I also saw a XTi at OfficeDepot Fri for $500 with the kit lens. Of course there is a chance it's gone, it was the last one clearanced. I really want the XSi so I am hoping for some great bundle or deal with it. Thanks!

Amazon.com has the Canon XSi body only for a little under $570 with free shipping, which is quite a bit more than the package you were asking about for the D40 ($410 with a lens). If you are interested in getting the XSi, I would make the same recommendation to get the body only if you can, and then get a better kit lens than the standard 18-55.

I don't know anything about Canon compatible lenses, but if there is one that is the equivalent of the 18-200mm VR Nikon lens, like maybe an 18-250 or something else that has IS built into it, I think that makes a really nice walk-around all in one lens until you can afford to add to your collection.

B & H Photo out of NYC has the XSI with two lenses (18-55 and 55-250) for under $790 (I ordered it last week!) or with the 18-55 kit lens for $650. Also, right now they're running a free shipping deal, and there's no sales tax unless you live in NY.
