What do you wear when u get on the ship? I know we will be eating lunch once we get there, so shorts is out right? I'm not even sure we will make lunch though since we have disney transportation. We want to go to Animal Kingdom in the morning with the land/sea package and then to the ship. I would rather wear shorts there I think then capris.

Shorts will be just fine at lunch. If the weather is warm enough we wear our Disney Ts with jean shorts. If it is chilly we wear jeans.

Shorts are fine to wear the first day.....they know people are traveling and are not "dressed" for dinner yet....wear what you will be comfortable in. We dress casually for boarding and then change at dinner time. :flower:

Just remember that they take a family picture when you get on the ship so you might want to plan what the family is wearing with that in mind. Some folks do matching Ts, others not.

Me, I was just glad to be getting on the ship.

We wore shorts and a t the day that we embarked because we had started travelling the night before, stopped spent the night, and then went the rest of the way, so we wanted to make sure that we were comfortable. What we didn't realize is what one of the other posters said about them taking your photo, so you may want to take that into account! Otherwise wear what you want!

Just remember that no everyone gets their luggage by dinner time, so you might want to pack some pants/skirts for dinner. :cool1: Especially if you have early seating.

Shorts have always been ok in the main restaurants for lunch and/or breakfast. They just ask that you not wear shorts to dinner.

Upon boarding you'll have two options for the lunch buffett: Topsider Buffet (Magic)/Beach Blanket Buffet (Wonder) or Parrot Cay.

Topsiders and Beach Blanket are both very casual buffet type restaurants. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and shorts are acceptable dress for them at any time.

Parrot Cay is one of the main three rotational restaurants. It only features indoor seating and will be set up buffet style for lunch on the first day.

Both locations will feature identical or near-identical offerings for the embarkation buffet but you may find yourself partial to one or the other for other reasons.

Thank you for all the replies. Now I just have to figure out how to look good for a picture after hanging out at Animal Kingdom for a few hours. :earboy2:

Our luggage did not get there until after we came back from dinner. Everyone was pretty laid back at dinner the first night. Everyone of us were in different levels of dishevelment, so we bypassed the picture before boarding

It sounds more like your asking about what you should wear the first day...because as soon (or soon after) you board the ship it will be lunch time.... Shorts and tees are okay...for lunch ANY day on the ship...the only time the dress code is in effect...is for dinner...in the main dinning rooms (Not counting topsiders or BBB).

So your casual relaxed outfit will be perfectly fine. :flower:
