From what I understand X-Rays do not affect digital cameras. The reason there was concern with film cameras related to the nature of films light sensitive emulation. With the increasing power of airport x-ray machines came the increased risk of fogged film from x-ray exposure. I think placing the film in checked luggage was, in the past a way of avoiding this problem. However, currently all luggage is scanned with high powered X-Ray scanners. Also, with slower films ISO 100, 200, there was less of a chance of fogged film. Again this is negated by the newer scanners.
