Hi All,

I am surprised it has not hit the boards yet. Just arrived home an hour ago from the 2/4/2005 Eastern. We were unable to dock at Castaway Cay. Captian Tom tried three times over a four hour span. The winds were to strong (as was the current). The ship staff was so great, and I did not hear anyone complain. I have lots of pictures of it anyway (from famous deck 7 location).

FWIW: It was our first cruise and we loved every minute of it. (Even though we had rough seas/8-13 ft. waves at the beginning and end. Crew members said it is the worst it has been in a while, but since I had not sailed before I did not know any different. Of course, I was taking Bonine and wearing Sea Bands, so that may have made the difference.) We went ahead and booked our next cruise for the new special 2xs @ Castaway Cay with 2 stops in Mexico for 11/2006. I guess I will become better acquanted with Castaway Cay then.

TTYS,
Renée

Actually that was reported on the live thread for your cruise. Glad to hear that you made the best of it. A good attitude makes all the difference.

Here is the link to the thread that Lisa mentioned above: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=734819 I sure hope you get to dock at CC twice on your next cruise, my family is doing the special 8-19-06 two stop CC cruise. We really enjoy the relaxing island atmosphere of CC!!!

Hi Verandah Man!

Thanks for the link. Sorry -- When I looked, I missed Denise's thread (otherwise I wouldn't have posted it-old news). Have fun in 8/06! :-)

It's nice to read someone's positive post about a disappointing event. It's refreshing. :)

I was on this cruise too. We had a great cruise although two of us were fairly ill Sat night and Sun morning with the rough seas. But we improved. We were very disappointed at missing CC. Disney builds it up, SOO much during the cruise, so then to miss it, is very disappointing.

This has probably been addressed before, I saw the threads from a few weeks ago, but it would seem to really be in Disney's interest to come up with a backup plan. If they're going to tout CC as the highlight of the cruise, the only cruiseline you can get there on, etc. then I feel like they had better get there! What about a dock on the other side, so they have two options? What about a tendering system?

This by no means ruined our cruise, as my brother in law put it, there are worse things then being stuck on a luxury cruise liner. :)
