Since our little guy doesn't need the stroller anymore, we have just taken carryon luggage(no checked baggage). I know we cannot take the liquids and gels on board so we will check that bag. For those who have travelled recently what have you been carrying on the plane? Can we still take our suitcase with clothes and shoes on board or do we need to check those also. Sorry for the dumb questions, but don't want to have issues when we get to the airport. Thanks for your input.

Hi,

You can still carry on bags, they just can't have prohibited items (like fluid and gels) in them.

Yes, you can still carry on a bag -- just no liquids, lotions or gels.

You can carry on TWO BAGS. One goes in overhead bin and one under seat. Just , as stated, no gels or liquids.

One bag and one smaller personal item per person. Why not just check them all and enjoy a easy walk to the gate? :)
I carried on my travel docs, id, money, cc, my cell phone and digital camera, oh yes, and my book. The clothes, shoes, etc. were checked.

This week-end I made a quick business trip to Orlando and I sent my clothing, and liquids(make-up, hair stuff ect.) by UPS. It was waiting for me when I got to Orlando. I then had UPS issue a pick-up for Monday and now my things are on their way back to Tennessee. Our college bookstore has a UPS service so they did this for me, but I think any UPS store can do the same. Cost less than $20 for the entire round trip. Remember that I was just there two nights and just took two outfits and wore the same shoes all week-end.

One of the big reasons people don't check everything is the fear of lost luggage. It's only happened to me once, but it throws a total monkeywrench in everything if your stuff is lost.

It sure does, mine got "lost" (to took a different plane) once, but, it was on the return and we were reunited the next day. None the less, it sure is nice not to schlep heavy bags around the airport, have to run it through security and find space in the overhead for it. The new rules have definitely made boarding a lot faster these days.

Thanks for the info. I can't decide what to do for sure. I still have a couple days to think about which is easier. Thanks again.
